So, you didnt study for, take, and pass the MCAT, didnt get into medical school, didnt do 4 years of medical school, and didnt do a 3-7 year residency....yet you want the first place trophy.

Nope just everyone in their lane of traffic. If you have X amount of training you can do Y. However while doing Y nobody has to hold your hand or look over your shoulder.

Agreed.

Big difference between "looking down at someone" and understanding the difference between education.

PA:  4 years undergrad that includes some tough courses then 2.5 years if intense medical education.

MD:  4 years of science heavy undergrad, study for and pass the MCAT, 4 years of medical school (arguably 3.5 years), then 3-7 years of residency.

Understanding the differences there isnt "looking down at" someone.

However wanting what someone else has (independence) without working for it (going to medical school) kinda looks like the "everyone gets a trophy" mentality.

Disagree on facts.

Cant measure years as Med school has summers off.

MD is 8 semesters  (with 4th year being Cush hence why fast track pcp Med schools eliminate it)

PA is 6 semesters.  Or sometimes 7

the difference is in two areas

1) MD is more basic science intensive

2) PA is more hands on knowledge intensive and just accelerated jammed in

3) residency and staged independence   This is the real separator

it is NOT a “everyone gets a trophy” mentality but instead somethin* that is deserved and the current system is totally illogical   I can not th8nk of one single stand alone profession which allows another profession to exercise total professsional control over it   As well I see zero benefit to the so called supervision rules after your first 1-2 years out  and I think senior PA’s should be mentoring/supervising new grad PAs whom have not attended a residency   I also believe residency should be a mandatory one year thing for everyone (and medicare should be paying for it like the doc’s)

with the above I truly believe we are an independent profession as ALL of Medicine is ream sport.  No one practices independently, even the folks in Antarctica have video and phone call back up to specialists......
