West coast PA
Hello- I am a full time Washington state PA in urgent care with a few years as a hospitalist under my belt as well. I am over the sick care system and want to break away into something I enjoy. I come from the fitness/wellness/bodybuilding community and have found a strong interest in longevity type medicine and hormone optimization. I see a space for a PA ran/owned clinic that is cash only. Has as anyone done something like this that can offer advice? how do I find a SP? What kind of contract would entice an MD to want to get involved in this? 10% of earnings? What would be some steps I should take to get the ball rolling? Just brainstorming at this point. Thanks for any insight. Edited March 19, 2019 by West coast PA
narcan
I definitely agree there is a space for this. Check out Dr. Peter Attia for a lot of interesting, nerdy information on body optimization. I would assume find an MD who's in the same community, e.g. crossfit, triathalons, etc. My friends who practice independently pay their SP a flat annual fee for services but depending on the requirements of Washington, if they have to review a certain number of charts or see certain patients, then you could have a sliding scale somehow. Keep us informed. Feel free to message me.

West coast PA
I know this is 3 years later, but I did not know that I actually received responses to this board post until I just looked at my profile on here. Haha. An update, I never made it past brainstorming, until now. I am currently in the process of establishing (getting collaboration agreement, EMR, malpractice insurance, office space, etc.) a “side hustle” part time doing aesthetics and PRP injections. From there, I plan to expand into more wellness based practice/ general medicine for people focused on truly optimizing their health with multiple modalities. I will also be performing DOT and Sports physicals to bring in additional income. I listen to Peter Attia on the regular and he is an inspiration to get into this kind of practice, I appreciate your guys comments and interest in my journey! Cheers!
