Physician Assistant for Travel Assignment!

Description

The Role:
This project site is located at the U.S. Army Garrison Military Base Hospital on the island of Kwajalein Atoll. The hospital serves more than 1,400 residents, which include military personnel, Army civilians, contractors, and family members. Kwajalein is home to one of the worlds largest coral atolls and surrounds one of the largest lagoons in the world. Kwajaleins year round warm, sunny weather supports a variety of activities. The military base also boasts entertainment areas like a movie theater, bowling alley, and shopping areas.  Airfare, hotel and meals are all covered!
 
Description: As a Physician Assistant, you will utilize your expertise to diagnose, mitigate, and treat injuries and illnesses in a hospital setting. We are looking for candidates with a commitment to a proactive approach to workplace safety while taking a diplomatic and professional approach to customer interactions.
 
Job Duties
  • Oversee the day to day activities of the clinic
  • Attends and participates in a variety of meetings and task force groups to improve quality and outcomes, and communication of issues
  • Ensures proper injury care and disease diagnosis, treatment and recovery and requests necessary tests and follow up visits and refer patients to specialists as necessary
  • Other duties as assigned
 
Minimum Requirements
  • Currently licensed U.S. Physician Assistant (PA)
  • 3+ years of experience as a Physician Assistant (PA)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Fit for Duty (FFD) clearance
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a clearance to drive company vehicles
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) – CPR or equivalent(s) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or equivalent(s)
  • Pre-hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) or equivalent(s) DEA License
 
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working independently in remote areas.
  • Prior experience in prehospital emergency care.

Seems like a great gig for when my kids leave the house.

Not a lot to do on that island.  Would be fun for a time though.

Actually thinking of taking my kids with me

They have a DOD school on the island and my kids are young

might consider a short stay now, and then a longer stay in few years....

I notice they left out description of bugs you might encounter.  

I can handle lots of things, but watching a six legged thing race under the toilet while you are sitting on the can ...thanks but no thanks.

I'm also changing my screen name to "scaredbybugs".  Heh.
