Struggling with finding online orgo 2 class

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I am currently attending a 4 year college to get my undergraduate degree done, but as lots do, I failed Organic Chemistry II. Now I'm looking for an online class to supplement the requirement. It's literally the last class I need to move forward. I found one from a community college near to my school, but the issue with that is the classes have already started. While I was got all the paperwork done, my home college took about a week to send it out, messing up the scheduling portion of attending the community college since they stop scheduling classes after a certain date. I had talked to them before this and they made it seem like that wouldn't be an issue, but now talking to them again, it seems to be a problem. I'm worried as this is the last semester I have before my financial aid runs out. The school takes so long to do anything even with my calling that I don't know if it will be worth the effort to try to get accepted as a visiting student at a different school if I cannot schedule.

I have been looking at Doane University, but I'm afraid that the same thing will happen. I am not sure how to proceed, so any advice would be helpful. If I withdraw and try to complete the class over summer instead, maybe that would be better, but I'm not sure if my financial aid will carry that long.

Hi doane university offer late start classes in march. So far this is my first week in organic chemistry one and it has been great so far! I didn't have to send no paperwork also they assume that the student knows which course to sign up for and that they have the prereqs. to do well in the class.

I didn't know that! That's sound great! Maybe I should be seriously looking in to it, then. Do you know if the credits transfer back to the home college in the same semester?

Hey there! How did your O Chem class fair out? I'm currently taking Biochem through Doane and it's been manageable but I'd like to know if OChem is structered in a similar way. Can you tell me what the class breakdown, like quizzes, tests, assignments, etc? Thanks!

I have run into this situation before.  It is relatively common.

Here is what I do (as an instructor) to remedy the situation:  I have the student contact the Registrar and ask for a late enrollment.  At some schools, this is free but at others it could be a $100 charge.  If a late enrollment is not possible, I simply have the student sign up for the class as a second session course (being taken over the second half of the semester).  The second session enrollment route almost always works to remedy these situations.

I always give the student the materials (syllabus, assignment list, access to quizzes/tests) so that the student will not fall behind.

I hope this information helps you.

      Hello all!
Has anyone taken Organic Chemistry 1 and 2 at the Open Learning Academy at Doane? I'm exploring my options, but leaning more towards Doane at the moment. ANY type of feedback regarding the course or other schools ya'll may have completed it at would be greatly APPRECIATED!
Thank you so much in advance

      Hello PA Forum,
I am new to the pre-PA path, and I am a bit overwhelmed by the things that need to get done over the next years. I am finishing up my freshman year and have decided that getting into PA school is my goal. After some research I have come to the understanding that I need to have prerequisite courses completed. However, I am very lost on where to start. Some schools require upper level this and lower level that. I dont want to waste any more time then I already have, given that I have been a CS major for my entire first year, so Im very worried about making the wrong choices for next semester. Here is a run down of the classes I've taken as a freshman CS student (I will switch out to another major). Keep in mind I have not taken introductory English courses because of AP college credit.

      1st Sem:
      Bio 101, CPSC 120, POSC 100, Pre-Calculus
      2nd Sem:
      Geology 101, CPSC 121, Calculus I, HCOM 100

What should I take this summer or in the fall? I would greatly appreciate some guidance. Registration is in a few weeks and I do not have too much time to make a decision on my fall classes. I was thinking of taking a more challenging course over the summer so I could focus on it by itself, and maybe take psychology next semester, but I feel like im missing something like chemistry or anatomy.

      Hello everyone,
I am currently a junior about to start my applications to PA School!
I have most of my pre-reqs done, but last semester when I was signing up for classes I could not take genetics due to the capacity of the class, I instead took molecular genetics. Does anyone know if this class is substitutable?
My advisor said it should be fine, but I just wanted to get some outside opinions because I have heard of people not getting into schools do to inadequate courses.
Please let me know your thoughts!
      Best,
      Cade P.

      Hello all!
I am sure there are already several similar topics already on here, but I am struggling to find them. I am wondering if anyone has compiled a list of schools that do or do not accept online anatomy and physiology courses if taken during quarantine. I have checked the websites of several schools that make no statements on how their prereq requirements have been altered in response to the pandemic. If anyone has any recommendations I would be very grateful.
      Thank you!!

Hello everyone. I would like to hear your opinions on online lab classes due to the Covid-19 situation right now. So I’m enrolled in general chemistry with an online lab, and I am contemplating on dropping the class because I’m afraid schools won’t accept it. (Also waist of time and money) Thanks for your opinions.
