Guest thePAway
what do you think PA programs qualify as good patient care hours versus low patient care hours? My hours come from working as an MA and as a PT aide but I feel like I don't have any close personal experiences with patients to talk about in my personal statement or essays because I have mainly done vitals, ulta sounds, and stretches with patients
Prepaguy23
MA hours carry a good bit of weight. I have 7000 hours as a pt aide and was told by two schools it was lower level experience... told by another it was great experience so take that as you please lol. ek1114
Honestly, I think those are good quality PC hours. And if you don't have anything specific to talk about in your essay about the patients, that's fine. I briefly brought up my overall experiences as an STNA in my personal statement, but I didn't talk about anything specific (like "Mary just really impacted me because..." haha!). Just emphasize your strengths in your personal essay - don't try to "fit the mold" by only focusing on your patient care.
