jakeandreasen7 Posted July 25, 2018 Hello all! I am a 3.8 GPA Biology major undergrad applying to PA school this cycle. I was always told to apply early and I understood how important this was, so I worked hard to get my CASPA application done by July 4th other than my transcript entry. I submitted for the professional transcript entry on July 4th (now regretting not doing it myself) but was still waiting on my paper transcripts to be received, which were unfortunately lost in the mail. Due to this setback, CASPA did not receive my transcripts until the 17th of July. They have yet to enter my grades and will likely use the full 10 business day time frame. This will set me back until about the 30th of this month. My ultimate question is do you guys think I will make the September 1st verification deadline if I submit it around July 31st? There is really not much I can do at this point and it kinda stinks that I submitted in early July, but due to setbacks, am sitting at kind of a time crunch. I understand that verification times average about 2 weeks, but I have heard that it can take up to 6, which would make me late for my main programs that I am interested in.
lctexas4 Posted July 25, 2018 You will be cutting it close. Just depends on if you want to still bother applying to schools with the September 1st deadline. Since you’d have a whole month for verification and you’ve come this far..you might as well in my eyes.
MT2PA Posted July 25, 2018 You'll probably be fine. It's worth trying...waiting another year seems excessive.

Note that you don't even go into line for transcript entry until you submit to at least one school. If you are sitting on that, that's the problem. Verification rarely takes 4 weeks - its more like 1-2 as long as you don't get it sent back to you - so I wouldn't worry about that, but if you haven't submitted get on that ASAP!

I also had all my transcripts into the professional transcript entry on July 17th. That would mean that the 30th would be 10 business days, so it theoretically should be done on Monday. I guess the only thing I am nervous about is the verification taking over a month of time to complete. Hearing that it is usually 1-2 weeks makes me feel better about this though, so thank you for that! I also hope that verification in mid August is not to late for most schools. Of the 8 I am applying to, only like 3 have rolling admissions, which was open until around December. Would August be an alright month for verification for these programs or could they be full already? It’s nerve racking hearing people talk about interview dates when considering the position I am in! Thanks again for the responses!
MCEmit Posted July 27, 2018 Make sure to keep an eye on their progress as they enter your grades into CASPA. I made the mistake of doing the transcript entry service, and it turned into a 3 week process back when I did it in May. They lost my transcripts two times, then came to find out that they were entering my transcripts into the 2017-2018 application cycle for some reason. After that was all figured out, I realized that I could see their progress by going to check status and downloading my application. Make sure they are entering everything correctly to avoid having to wait even more time if you wait until they are completely finished and then have to email CASPA about the mistake. That cost me an extra week. Luckily I started really early and was able to have everything finished by early June, though I had planned to be finished in mid May. Not sure how long verification is taking at this point, but luckily it only took a day to get verified after the three week back and forth with the transcript entry stuff. I'd say just be proactive and monitor their progress when they begin to enter grades. Could save you a lot of time if you spot a mistake early. And lastly, CASPA somehow lost two of my transcripts after saying they had received them both. If that happens, just call and tell them to check to make sure they didn't scan everything into the wrong cycle. I think everything that could have possibly went wrong with that service went wrong for me. But, it's all just a crazy and complicated process. Sorry for the essay, but if you stay on top of everything, you'll definitely make the September deadlines. Just make sure all other required materials are submitted beforehand.

I had no idea that I could see what they were imputing at CASPA by downloading my app! That is to bad that they lost your transcripts and all, but I am glad they got it all figured out for you! It is a long process indeed, I just hope that it goes over smoothly though needing the full 10 business day limit shows how busy they must be. This makes me nervous on the amount of errors that may be present, but I suppose only time will tell. Monday will be day 10 for me so fingers crossed!
