tiffmd94
For those who received invites, when did you submit your application? I sent mine in July and just want to know!
Guest jas96
I got an interview for 3/7 but I’ll most likely be declining since I’ve already been accepted to a program closer to home.

prePArepa
Hey guys, I'm currently in didactic year at CSOM pa program, my interview last year was one relaxed 2 on 1 interview with program faculty that lasted about 20 minutes. First, they sat around 30 of us in a class room, gave us an essay question to write about (ethical question I don't remember what it was, sorry!), and then we waited as they called names for interviews. I got asked very typical questions like "why do you want to be a PA?" and "what is a difficult decision you've made and how did you overcome it?". The best advice I can give you is to remind you guys to have a lot of energy and excitement, be genuine with your responses, and highlight why you are a good fit by incorporating the mission of the program into your responses. Standard mock interview questions are great practice. However, do not sound robotic!! I got my acceptance email the first week of April. I hope this helps and puts some of your nerves at ease. Good luck guys!!! 4

There's a new program director so I don't know if she has switched the process up.

I wonder if they’re reaching out to those who applied closer to the deadline first as opposed to submitting early haha. Just gotta wait and see! Be yourself. They want to see your personality. Talk about your accomplishments in terms of giving back to the community and how you want to continue doing so. Talk about any trials you may have faced. Stuff like that. Good luck! Also, if you want to talk in person you are invited to our club hours on Thursdays 12:30-1:30pm. Crissy1989
Hey guys! CSOM first year student here again. I know that it is interview time and you guys are anxious and excited! I’m also excited for you guys! Congrats to everyone who received interviews. The interview for the most part is very chill. Just tell them what you bring to the table and how you are unique (voluntary work, life experiences etc). Don’t focus too much on your grades. They do ask about your strength and weaknesses and obstacles that you had to overcome to be at this point (the interview). Be prepared to answer that. There is a essay question that they ask. Nothing too serious. You will be fine. This was my fav interview of all the interviews I went on. We did not get a tour of the campus and I’m thinking you won’t either. But I think we have good resources. Cadaver lab, skills lab etc. Make sure you ask questions at the end of the interview. And make eye contact! If you guys want to speak in person, we have club meeetings Harris Hall 109, 12:30-1:30pm. If I’m not there, my classmates are always happy to help. Also, feel free to PM me. For everyone who didn’t receive interviews yet, don’t get discouraged. They are still sending out interview invites. Some of my classmates were interviewed on the very last day of interviews. Goodluck everyone. I look forward to meeting you soon. Crystal, CSOM PA-S1

Or about how many they sent out last cycle? Also, when was the latest that someone heard back from the program about a decision?

Exel27
Does CUNY require some specific kind of laptop or students can have either of Mac or Windows? I am thinking of buying a MacBook but not sure if it is compatible with the program softwares. Thank you for your help!

Can you tell me please what kind of questions did they ask! Thank you and congratulations for your interview invitation!! Best of luck!! Hey, Someone asked me the same question so I'll just copy and paste my response. I interviewed yesterday, 3/5, and I received an invitation for the interview on 2/19. The email I received stated that the interview was scheduled to begin at 8AM until whenever. When I arrived, we were all held in a classroom. They only provided water and coffee, so I suggest bringing snacks to keep your energy up. There was no presentation about the program, like going over the curriculum, rotations, tuition, etc. The interview started with us having to write an essay, you have 30 minutes to complete the task. Our essay topic was about the Affordable Healthcare Act and you had to answer six questions regarding it. I don’t remember each question word for word, but one asked if you thought the “ACA should be repealed and/or replaced” and another asked if you think the “individual mandate is unconstitutional.” The AHA was our essay topic they may give you something different. After the essay, they called us in groups of 5 to be interviewed. The interview is 2 on 1, there’s no group interview. You’ll be held in the classroom until your name is called. They told us we would be interviewed by a mix of staff, current students, and alumni. I was interviewed by an adjunct professor (sweetest lady on the planet! We bonded over our love of public health, which I have a B.S. in) and an alumna (who was intimidating to say the least). The first question they asked me was just to talk about myself and why I chose to apply to CUNY. They asked other questions regarding my application, like my patient care experience. They asked me how I would deal with a class that I'm doing very poorly in and where I saw myself in 5 years. The questioning was rapid fire. At the end of their questioning I was able to ask them a few questions. Once your interview is done you can leave. There is no tour or after Q&A, which was disappointing. However, you can always call or email with questions. Hopefully that helps. Best of luck to you.
