Hey guys,

I'm a current first year in the program. Congrats to those who've interviewed and been accepted. It's a rigorous, but great program taught by instructors with diverse backgrounds and years of experience. Everyone's approachable and truly wants to see you succeed. Let me know if y'all have any questions and I'll try to answer to the best of my abilities.

**I can't answer any questions about the interview process or style since they don't tell us and they seem to change the style every year**

Hi futuroPA,

Do you know if the 2018-2019 application cycle has been completed? Or are they still in the process of creating the cohort?

Unfortunately, I don't know if the cohort is complete and finalized, but what I do know is that interviews are over for this cycle. My recommendation is to just try to wait until the program reaches out to you before emailing them first. I know it's hard not knowing, but they will notify you of your status. It just takes a while because of the volume of applicants and emails coming in around this time.

For those who were curious about figuring out living situations, I recommend someone in the incoming class of 2021 create a facebook group for the class so that you guys can get to know each other and message one another about possibly rooming together. You can share the link to that group on this forum for others to join. An apartment complex that a lot of my classmates live in and is very close to campus is Legends Edinburg.

Hope some of that helped.

Has everyone that has been accepted to the program already received the official invitation from the Graduate College? I know @ktmt7 mentioned they did. I have been checking my email but haven't received anything.

I got an email from the graduate college, but it told me to log in to the self service center in order to actually see the decision.

I called an UTRGV graduate admission specialist. She said as long as we have all the documentation ready, we should receive the letter soon. They are still working in the letters for students starting graduate college for Spring 2019.

Hey Everyone!

I hope I can get some input/advice from those who frequent this thread. I was fortunate to interview for the program on September 21st of last year and have yet to hear back at all, in any form. I know we were told to be patient and that there is a possibility that some of us may get an offer even the day before the program actually starts, but reading all the previous posts has me a little anxious. While some have gotten accepted, deferred, placed on the waitlist, gotten off the waitlist, I'm kind of in limbo - I've yet to hear back from UTRGV in any capacity.

Ultimately, I'm not sure what my next steps should be; continue to wait? Reach out to the program and inquire?

This waiting game has me seriously stressed out. Any and all advice/thoughts you may have is greatly appreciated.

🙂

Hello mantonio85,

I completely understand how stressful the wait can be. Just keep your head up and keep on eye out for an email. I am a second year applicant to this program. Last year I did not hear back until March with a rejection letter. No matter the outcome, do not give up! Stay patient and optimistic.

@Mantonio85 Hi Mantonio! A friend of mine who got into the program also interviewed early but literally did not get accepted until about 1 month or a few weeks out before starting the program. I’m not sure how long it took for her to be put on the waitlist from her initial interview but I thought it was awesome how she got in and got to work right away. Anyway I hope all the best for you, it may not hurt to call and just ask sometimes things can get a little hectic at the office, especially since you are so anxious.

I think someone on here also asked when exactly does the program start I believe it’s about early August b/c you have a 2 week orientation, then 1 week break/no school, then the fall semester begins. Either way if you have been accepted take the time to relax because once school begins it will be really hard to relax 🙂

By the way my name is Marlyn I just graduated from the program, currently waiting to here back about my PANCE score. If you guys have any questions let me know I’m not on here to often, I only checked to see what others had to say about the PANCE exam then found myself over here. If you want to contact me directly/quickly I’m on IG all the time lol @suturinginspanglish

Oh also I strongly encourage you to pleaseeee practice your Spanish it definitely helps make rotations a little easier and helps you connect with your patient population which is like 90% Hispanic, and about 60% of the elderly population doesn’t speak English (if anything I’m actually under calculating)

Sending everyone positive thoughts and vibes!!

Marlyn
