Hi Everybody,

It is getting pretty close to application time for me and I had a question on whether I should try to get more PA shadowing hours. Also any advice in general would be greatly appreciated!

Shadowing so far:

Urgent Care PA - 8 hrs

Urgent Care PA - 30 hrs

Internal Medicine PA - 20 hrs

I realize 50 hours is the minimum for some schools but I also have PCE:

STNA Nursing/Rehab - 2000+ hrs over 4 years

STNA Nursing/Mental Health - 500-700 hrs 1 year

STNA in doctor's office - 700hrs (turns to full-time for gap year so will add 2000 more) (1 year and continuing)

Rest of my app: (if interested)

3.93 GPA

3.89 sGPA

GRE: Scheduled May

Volunteer:

Hospital - 2 years

Horse Therapy - 2 + years

Research:

Bee research - 2 years

Depression research - 1 year

Leadership:

Worked in an office where I advised students one on one and gave presentations to large classes.

LORs:

1 science prof - A in class and worked in research lab

2 Boss at office on campus - Also A in her class (non-science)

3 Doctor I work for

Hobbies:

Build my own furniture, play guitar and piano, and ride horses.

Hi! Your application looks pretty solid. You have a really competitive GPA and some good EC’s and experience. That being said, in my opinion, more is always better. Obtaining more shadowing hours can only help you. Personally I think your stats are impressive and with a good personal statement and LORs you shouldn’t have much trouble getting interview invites. If you can add in some more shadowing though it’ll only help. Good luck to you!

      Hello,
I am currently residing in Bellingham Washington. I am eager to get some shadowing experience prior to applying to PA school this year. I have received both covid vaccines, and would love to shadow in person. Please let me know if you have any ideas. I have reached out to several PAs in the area and have yet to hear back from anyone.
      Thank you!

      Hello all!

My name is Kim and I am a demonstrated pre-PA coach and a current PA-S with a high success rate of client admission. I am currently available to take on new clients. I offer services including the following: personal statement editing/feedback, supplemental essay editing/feedback, interviewing prep/coaching, mock interviews, general pre-PA application advising sessions and pre-PA planning for the future. During the 2019-2020 cycle, I was invited to 7 interviews but only chose to attend 4 as I was accepted to my top choice by the 4th interview. I was accepted to ALL programs that I decided to interview with. Please email me at prepacoachkimberly@gmail.com if you are interested in learning more about my services. I also offer these services to other pre-health students as well.

      Happy holidays,
      Kim

I am looking to set up a shadowing schedule with a PA in the Indianapolis area whether it be once a week, twice a week, or every other week. I am from Fishers, so if you are practicing there that is a plus!

I am a junior pre-PA student located between San Antonio and Austin really needing shadowing hours. I understand because of covid this may be more difficult to obtain, but I am a fairly average (maybe slightly below average if I am being honest) candidate and would like to do everything I can to give myself an extra edge.
