lkd27583
What are your "go to" medications to treat otomycosis?
nmc5108
I know this old but since no other responses I figured I’d answer. I usually try acetic acid-hydrocortisone ear drops and PO diflucan first. If that doesn’t work I’ll do clotrimazole drops next
cbrsmurf
Kitchen sink approach. Suction/clean the ear thoroughly. Apply Gentian Violet. Insert topical ointment mixture of ketoconazole/triamcinolone/nystatin to fill the ear canal. Return in 1 week to suction out the medication. Works >95% of the time for me. No oral medications, which is unnecessary 99% of the time for otitis externa. Keep the ear dry, no drops. I get a ton of recurrences when using acetic acid or clotrimazole drops, but on the other hand by the time they see me, they've been tried on a bunch of different medications already.
