Professor
Hey I’m new to this forum. I was wondering if anyone knew what the job prospects look like in the SLO area. I’m graduating this June and am going to start sending resumes next month. Should I open up my geographic area? Thanks
Moderator EMEDPA Posted January 11, 2018 Moderator Share Posted January 11, 2018 yup, Santa Barbara and up on the coast is a very tight market. last time I checked there were fewer than 10 PA jobs in SLO and folks never leave them until they retire. unless you have an in somewhere broaden your search south and east. Cideous
Better have housing already setup as well even if you find a job....
Guest HanSolo
I've seen a few postings here or there over the past year within about 30 min of SLO. Usually in surgery. Probably difficult to land one of those spots as a new grad. However, if you don't mind driving a bit, then the inland empire is an entirely different market. In a desirable specialty? If it is a weight loss clinic or Low-T clinic, or you are authorizing medical marijuana cards or doing occ med, I'm going to say that isn't a win:win... bike mike
It is in my desired specialty - cardiology. Not critical Care cardiology which is what I do now but I’m ok with that given that I get to live in the area where I always wanted to retire. Professor
Nice. I landed a high paying job in Santa Maria in my first choice specialty. Not SLO, but close enough.
