2017-2018 app cycle - Barry University MIAMI CAMPUS

Recommended Posts

It has been 3 months and two days (June 20) since my CAPSA application was verified and I JUST received an email saying I am missing my anatomy lab prerequisite. I called a couple times back in July and August to see if they needed me to send them information about it being included in my lecture section, but she had no interest in looking up my application to tell me if I would need it. I kind of reached a point of acceptance that I would probably never hear back from them haha. A little frustrated with the three month delay in telling me this, but oh well.. At least I heard back...

I got my app verified around June 7 and they told me i was missing a lab pre req as well a couple weeks ago. Now they sent me another email earlier this week saying I am missing a LOR... which doesn't make sense. i have 3 letters in and everything.. I get that they're busy but I have also just kinda accepted this as a throwaway application.

Yeah it's kind of frustrating! I just had an interview at a different school and during the group discussion with first year students one of them said "always consider communication with a program before you accept an offer. If you've had a negative experience trying to get questions answered, how will that carry on into the program" which has stuck with me haha. I was told I would get this review email "in a few days" back in July..

Does anyone who has received an interview offer or acceptance mind sharing their stats? I am curious to know what Barry is looking for.

Interviewing September 15th!

If you don’t mind, could you share what the interviews are like and the kinds of questions that applicants are asked?

I got an email today to select an interview date. I will be selecting October 27th since I'm interviewing elsewhere the other weekends. I was verified 6/22 I believe

I'll also be interviewing on October 27th! See you there :)

Congrats on getting interviews. Did you guys receive a call or email or both regarding interview invites.

I received an email to interview in September but was cancelled due to the hurricanes. I interviewed on October 6th - PA day! :)

Has anyone not heard back any information concerning actually receiving CASPA files? I have no confirmation of receipt, and have emailed twice now...

I applied later in the cycle (verified Aug 11), but it has been over two months and no acknowledgement even with a couple of follow up emails. You’re not alone friend.

I have no idea whether or not they’ve received my application, but on CASPA, I’m verified. Was hoping to at least receive a verification from the program.

When did you turn everything in? I was verified early May and didn't receive a verification email from Barry until very end of June so they took a little over a month and a half.

Same here! I applied back in July and have not heard from them at all. I've tried calling them multiple times and no one pick up.

Got my acceptance letter yesterday! Interviewed the 27 and it was actually a really small group because most professors were gone for conference so I’m sure they will be having more interview to make up

Hi all!

Anyone recently get word on an interview offer? I was a late applicant and I'm curious if anyone else was too and if they're still holding interviews.

Thanks <3

Why you should join FAPA by Nicole Schtupak-Zernitsky, FAPA South Regional Director:
It’s a great idea for all Florida PAs to be members of our state academy, the Florida Academy of Physician Assistants (FAPA). It allows for SO much: networking, information, mentoring, biannual conferences and being up to date with all the PA legislation, just to name a few.
Dues go to help lobby for our profession, and protect it against non friendly PA legislation, and lobby to help pass laws that ensure we have the practicing rights we do. It’s also tax deductible! It does not go to pay salaries… I am on the board of directors as the South Regional Director, and everything I, and the other members of the board, do are all voluntary. We do what we do because we believe in and love our profession. If you love PAs, love your PA, want to protect the PA profession, be a PA, working hard to become a PA then support your state academy.
It’s super important. I had no idea until I became a PA student, and even more so now that I’ve become one. You want to protect everything you’ve worked so hard to attain. And don’t think that for one second there aren’t non friendly legislation attempting to sneak into laws. It’s currently happening! It’s bc of the state academy and their political action committee that help to combat those groups.
Non friendly legislation in one state opens the door for other states. We have to all band together in all of the ways we can. One way to help, is just as simple as becoming a member.
Nicole’s background: ER PA, critical care flight PA, South Regional Director for FAPA, adjunct faculty at Barry University, and previously sat on the admissions committee for the PA program.

      Hello,
I've recently decided to pursue the PA field and plan to apply this cycle. I would love to find a PA here in Miami to shadow and gain better insight into what their daily routine looks like. I came across many PA's when I lived in California, but have yet to meet one here in Miami. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
