Hey Everyone,

GPA kind of matters but it is not the sole reason why you may or may not be picked for an interview. They really look at your experiences over all (volunteer, work, outside activities, etc) and read your personal statement as well as references. The director will read all of these. If you get an interview anywhere, you've already made it in their mind and it is literally just to see if you're the right personality for their program.

Side note, GPA 3.27 in undergrad after being through a lot of difficulty experiences

Best wishes

Received an interview invite today as well for 9/23 (verified 6/9), but I already got into one of my top programs. Hopefully this opens up a spot up for someone else!

Hi All!

How long after you received notification that your application is "under review" did you get invited for an interview? How much notice do they typically give for interview sessions?

I got an interview!  So excited to learn about the program and see the campus!

Under review notification: Jun 22

Interview offer: Sep 7

Are results of interviews disclosed a couple days later or do you have to wait until all interviews are done to get news?  How much is the initial tuition deposit?

Does anyone mind sharing their stats that received interview invites? I have a bit over 1,000 patient care hours but I read their average is between 2,500-3,500 hours of students in the program.

I know this is pessimistic but has anyone received a rejection without an interview yet?

I am just nervous and want to know my fate.

Mind you I was verified July 7th and under review July 19th

Recently I found out that I will also be interviewing on the 23rd, and I'm very excited about it!

Does anyone who interviewed in years past have any idea the set of the interviews?

Also, who's going to the socail the night before? I've never heard about an event like this before and I'm very excited to meet those you going there!

From what I understand, it's a presentation of the program, tour of school, and then interviewed by 2 people at the same time.  Possibly one faculty and the other a student.

I am definitely going to the social.

Also, I will be traveling solo from NC.  I am getting there on thursday and leaving sunday.  If anyone is traveling solo and wants to get up in downtown portland on that friday for lunch/ explore the city before the social send me a message.  Same offer goes for after the interviews on Saturday.

Traveling solo can be rather lonesome so it would be fun know someone or even have a group.  Knowing people on the way to the social and interview would also greatly help with nerves too.  Hit me up and let me know.  Very excited for this trip!

I just received an email my application is under review and all of my prerequisites are complete. Did anyone think to response to Kate thanking her for reviewing your application prerequisites?

I'm considering doing a 2 year commitment to the Indian Health Service once I graduate (May 2018) to get some help paying back my loans. Does anyone have any experience as a PA with the IHS or what it's like working on a reservation? I've heard mixed reviews but it seems like a great way to help an underserved population while getting help paying back my pile of student loan debt.

      Hello,

I'm graduating in August and am planning to take the PANCE in mid September and start work at an ED on a Native American reservation in the fall. I'm interested in finding out if/how EM providers manage to take advantage of IHS loan repayment programs. It seems to me that the work requirements by the loan repayment program (LRP) are quite restrictive and wouldn't work very well for clustered blocks of shifts like I plan to do (I plan to commute for my shifts from my home 3 hours away and stay on the rez while I'm working).
If anyone has any experience making their EM shifts work within the requirements of the IHS LRP, I'd love to know how you do that. Or, if there's some other, less restrictive, loan repayment options available, please let me know.
      Thank you!

Curious about NHSC Loan Repayment or the NHSC Scholarship? In this blog posting, I've included the former as well as many other loan repayment options and scholarship options you might not know about. Take advantage of this information! You might be a current PA student, a practicing PA, or a pre-PA student considering repayment options for your loans. Make sure you know other resources out there before you make a decision! This information is just to get you started and is by no means all inclusive. I realize there may be many more options out there, but I did the best I could to get your mind thinking. Good luck fellow PA-S and PA-C!
