GetMeOuttaThisMess Posted March 10, 2017 Share Posted March 10, 2017 One thing to take into consideration is area of practice (field) and state that you're working in. In a tort reform state you may not need to carry as much. It is also dependent on whether or not you're covered by a umbrella coverage policy by your employer. That being said, I went with a minimum of $100/300K paid by myself in a risk category 1 setting just so I wouldn't have to worry about legal expenses or tail coverage since umbrella coverage policy is a claims-made policy. I have gotten various advice about that too - some PA's said it was a deal-breaker if they were not covering my medical malpractice, others said to just go purchase my own.
