Bio I and II labs not offered at UC's

Recommended Posts

I took my bio I and II classes at University of California, Irvine and labs were not offered for those two classes. I noticed that many schools, especially those in Northern California and out of state, have bio I and II WITH labs as requirements.

Has anyone from the UC's experienced an issue with this? And what have you done? I was hoping schools would be lenient when it comes to this as those two bio courses are the most introductory of classes and I've defiantly taken labs for my upper division bios. It just seems unnecessary for them to make us retake the intro courses just for those labs.

If anyone can please give their input on this, I would really appreciate it :)

I'm not sure if you still are wondering about this...but I had the same issue since I attended UC Irvine. I agree that it is completely silly and unnecessary, but unfortunately the schools don't see it that way. I ended up not being able to apply to a handful of programs because of this requirement. But there were definitely plenty of programs that didn't require it and I was able to apply to with no problem. My backup plan was that if I did not get accepted this year, I would retake the two intro to Bio's with the labs at a community college, in order to be able to apply to more programs.
