I signed up for tomorrow's session, confirmed it is at the main campus.  I will be driving about 1.5 hours to attend so can't do dinner after, I have to get home. :)  However, I am intrigued by the comments recently posted:   :/

1. Sbp:  "Receive Laura's email?"   Who is Laura? Maybe the post was deleted?

2. CareL, why are you saying we shouldn't go to the information Session?  Last week I called to confirm it was happening.  Has something changed?

There was an email that was sent to students who were admitted. Laura is the one of the administrative assistants.

Right.

Laura just sent an email asking the admitted students to not attend. Mainly because this information session is geared more towards students looking to apply for the upcoming cycle. It's understandable.

There will be a second information session specifically for the students that were accepted previously. I'll be going to that instead

Hi sdnola so what's going on is that yesterday the accepted students received an email basically saying that attending tomorrow's information session is  not such a great idea since the information that is going to be provided is going to be more beneficial for the students/people who are interested in applying to the pa program. They are going to be holding a different info session for the accepted students in sept for us. If you were one of the 20 accepted students and didn't received the email I would suggest contacting them so they can send you the email, but if that doesn't pertain to you and you want to attend the iformation session I think it would be a good idea if you want to get more information on how too apply to the program, what the program is going to be offering, etc

Thank you all! Congratulations on your acceptance! I'll be attending for sure. I'm not one of the 20.  I'll be stalking this board though.; )

Guz559 umm I'm not sure what's going on with the waitlisted students I'm sorry. Have you tried calling and asking? The faculty & staff are very nice so I'm sure they will help with answering your question ?

Hey all!! I am also in the first accepted cohort and have had an eye on this forum. What a ride! I've kept positive and am so excited to attend this program. I'm in the same boat with all of you and I think it will make for a unique bond in our cohort. Are ya'll connected in any other way? I created an account here just so i can touch base with you. I live in Los Angeles but I have to attend a wedding during the upcoming session that Laura invited us to attend. I'd love to get notes from one of you.

I got a confirmation for the event from Laura...in regards to the attire I had the same question sbp however, I agree with Vkap to play it safe just to wear business casual. :)

I hope everyone got yesterday's email. I'm happy to have some news. I sent questions to Laura about exactly what we need to send in. I'm hoping I don't have to bug my LOR writers to resend them directly since I don't have these/never read them. I have a busy doc that is particularly hard to nail down. We'll see. So excited for the official word to finally come. So close yet so far.

Aprilxmae,

I had the same exact question yesterday in regards to the LOR's and requirements. I am happy to know that you asked that question to Laura, please keep us informed as to what she says ?

Talked to Laura yesterday and she said that they dont have access to CASPA anymore so everything needs to be submitted again. I forgot to ask if they need LOR's again.

If someone finds out that we need our LOR’s again, could you please confirm here as well? I’ll send an email tonight asking too.

I need to go get my transcripts again lol

Has anyone logged in to the portal? I emailed and called but have not been able to get ahold of Laura. It seems that there is an application from the last cycle already there and it needs official transcripts, application fee and LORs with no directions on how to submit these. Are we supposed to create a new application for 2018 or just submit these missing pieces from 2017? Still curious about LORs but am assuming I will have to resubmit them. It would be nice if that weren't the case. If I'm able to get clear directions I will share. Please do the same.

Edit: I got a lot of clarity from Barbara Cox who works in admissions. She let me know that more directions should be coming via email soon and if anyone else has questions they are welcome to reach out to her. She was very nice and helpful.

What is the process of creating a clinical site or at least an affiliation with a doctor or organization for one student to do a rotation at? I have been desperately trying to get clinical rotations in CA, my home, while I am currently out of state. I have situational depression and I know that being able to do rotations back at home would help immensely with my focus, happiness, and health, but my school won't budge in helping me. Their reasoning was that it's too much work for them to make affiliations with new sites. I have found doctors willing to take me in for rotations though, so the only thing left would be the paperwork which I thought was in large part filled out by the preceptor. Does anyone know anything about this, and if so, could you please help me understand?
