Guest kennypowers
I recently took the GRE and needless to say, my writing was/is a bit rusty. It's not that I am a terrible writer; I simply need ample time to craft a compelling piece. Do schools have an AWA cutoff? Most I have looked into consider a 4 to be on the low end. I was hoping a personal statement that shows I do not speak like a caveman could make up for it. Thanks for reading!
MTOPAC
Our GRE scores are similar (156/155/3.5). My AW percentile was 30%. I received a few interviews and an eventual acceptance. I wouldn't worry about it too much, but I have seen a handful of schools with AW score cutoffs, but not many. My writing was rusty and it was something I never practiced when preparing for the GRE. I found myself having a tough time formulating thoughts and getting them transcribed onto paper in the time allotted.
