Hi everyone! I applied to FIU's program this year! Anyone hear about interviews yet?

Nothing yet, seems they send e-mails in October for the pre-entrance exam. Have you received anything?

I applied, but have been accepted elsewhere, so I am withdrawing my application. Best of luck to you all!

Congratulations, best of luck! Hopefully, we hear something soon....

Has anybody heard anything about phase I interviews?

It looks like the entrance exam in o November 4th ( I got the invitation email today despite withdrawing my app). Applicants who score a 75 or better get an interview the next week. Same day interviews for applicants that score a 75 or better for people who traveled more than four hours.

I would suggest sending an e-mail to the program expressing your interest despite your score. They really look at who you. I am not sure how you did but i know they are going to extend some interviews to people with scores lower than the 75 case by case.

Hi, Pc21. I would actually appreciate any advice you have to offer! I recently took the pre-entrance exam and scored a little below the 70 score requirement, so unfortunately I was not offered an interview :(.

This is my second year applying to FIU's PA Program, and this school is my number 1 choice. I've heard so many GREAT things about the program and would LOVE to attend. What do you suggest?

Thank you!

@DFranc I am under the impression that the program will continue to extend interviews to students who took the pre entrance in phase 1 well into after the second phase pre entrance exam in January despite being under the specific score they are looking for. You could still be called for an interview once they see the scores from phase 2. I would send an e-mail to the program expressing interest and why you are wanting to go to FIU specifically.

Hi! Not sure if this is the right way to reply, haha, but I wanted to know, how important is it to ask questions at the end? And how many people are asking you questions during the interview? Three?

I can only speak from my experiences but I always like to ask questions at the end because I usually have questions that I want to know the answer to and I think it shows interest. Last year I had three people during my interview, i am not sure if the process this year is changed.

I got wait listed too. Is there anything we can do to show our interest in the program? To those that were wait listed previous years, did you do anything to help increase your chances? Are we allowed to ask the placement of our wait listed? Like if we're number 10, etc...?

I am in the program right now. I was never wait listed, but I would just call once, express great interest, let them know how eager, & how this program is your 1st choice. Most importantly though, dominate the call with mature meaningful timeline questions. When will the next phase of interviews be? When will all final decisions, including wait listed decisions be over? Can you say what lacks placed me on the wait list instead of full acceptance? How many seats are actually already filled? What # on the list am I? Etc. Call and be professional like that, but balance it with great interest.

Hello Everyone. Has anyone heard back from FIU that took the exam in phase one and didn't score the required score? They said they would start communicating with us via email in February so I was just wondering if they have started interviewing those who were waitlisted in phase one.

For those from phase one who have been waitlisted, I just received an interview invite. I was starting to think that was the end, there's still hope. =)

Hello JWG,

They are still conducting interviews for the next few weeks. They sent us a link to choose our desirable day/time and there are over 60 applicants with interviews.

Hello, did anyone hear back after the phase 2 interviews? On the website it said applicants would know their status by March 11th.

Just wanted to check in.

Seems like we won't hear anything until the 31st of March. In a few days.

Hi, congratulations!!!! I have a few questions.... what date did they notify you of your conditional acceptance? Were you notified by email or regular mail? Thank you in advance for your response, feeling a little anxious... =/

So I finally got a job at my dream hospital!! I am currently working there as a Patient Care Technician/ PCT. However, I will be leaving for PA school next year. I really want to return to this hospital and work as a PA! The problem is that getting a job at my hospital is super competitive. Is there a way for me to ensure/ increase my chances of getting a PA job in this facility in the future?

(Also, what do you guys think of requesting a absense of leave instead of quitting? Can I be able to come back to the hospital to pursue a higher position?)

      Thanks in advance!

Hi guys, I am set to graduate in August, but I have started looking for jobs because I want to work as soon as I can after graduation and PANCE. My current interests are Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine, and Hospitalist.
I am living in Texas currently, and I am planning to stay here. But I have a hard time finding a job, most are specialty-based, on top of that, 90% requires you to have 2+ years experience. I was wondering if you guys have any tips or resources that are open to new grads. Thanks.

      Hello all

Im a PA 5 years out at a private out of network ortho surgery practice. Ive been with the practice for 3 years and have been praise with my performance. Its 7 docs and 5 PA's so we are carrying a larger work load. I'm on call one weekday a week and one weekend a month. I feel that my compensation is lacking since the weekend Im on call included surgical cases, ER consults and floor consults. Us PA;s literally do what ortho residents would do. We have the most autonomy of any position I have come across. I am currently getting paid 140k with the full weekend of call and I know I am getting underpaid. Dose anyone have any advice as to how to negotiate a better pay?
      TIA

I will be starting my first job in Orthopaedics in a few weeks. I have been doing some of my own prep work these last couple of weeks, but do you have any suggestions of what should be sure to know before I start?  I will be specializing in sports medicine.
So far I have been reviewing anatomy, my Orthopaedic Surgery Pocketbook, some PANCE review book, and case studies.

      Hey everyone,

Just wondering if anyone has come across a good splinting guide. I've been looking but can't find exactly what I'm looking for. Ideally a book that clearly outlines what splints are best for which fractures. I completed an ortho rotation and have experience as a tech in the ED in which we did all the splinting for the providers, but I really would like some sort of resource to refer to if needed.

      Thank you
