Guest acc0unt Posted July 20, 2016 C in gen chem 1 (freshman year, A in gen chem 2, B+ in orgo 1, A- in orgo 2) C in physics 1 & physics 2 (B in physics 1 lab and A in physics 2 lab)
UGoLong Posted July 20, 2016 To me, your advanced chem classes should wash away your chem 1 grade. If anything there, I'd take a biochem course to prove you've got it together. The Cs in physics may be another matter. The lab scores don't help all that much and we are left with the opinion that you are only a fair physics student. The closest medical class to that is probably physiology. How did you do there?
MT2PA Posted July 20, 2016 As long as the schools you're applying to allow C's in those courses (if they are pre-reqs) I wouldn't retake them. If a program requires a B- or better then you have to retake them. As long as your GPA is competitive otherwise for the schools you are aiming for, C's aren't the end of the world. Be human. Learn from it. Not a huge deal.
UGoLong Posted July 21, 2016 Crush biochem and no one will probably remember your chem 1 grade. Physiology (and perhaps patho) are as close to applied physics as the PA curriculum comes. Repeating a class just averages your grade; taking something new and more advanced -- and doing really well -- makes a statement that you have gotten beyond your earlier academic misfortunes.
