"We regret we will no longer be needing your services"

So after 2 months and 3 weeks this is the first sentence I received. Originally I replaced a PA that had just graduated and was I assume not slow but referred a lot which was good!. I was part time and when hired in April it was steady busy. Never crazy. Lately it was slow and I was not seeing more than 15 patients a day. Patient reviews were very good and staff and I got along great. My problem is the way the position was eliminated. The first sentence was topic title, the next sentence was "your last paycheck will be issued upon completion of medical charts".

I don't have an issue with being let go but how it was done. The 2 sentence letter was given to me on Wednesday. The CP was gone, the administrator who's name was typed had not been in the office since last week.

This is a family practice in Katy Tx.. I know that it is getting slower in FP here because of all the Doc in a box and every hospital, supermarket and Pharmacy chain offers FP. Not to mention on every corner is an ER private or hospital sponsored or urgent care also private or hospital sponsored.

I don't think this is an issue in any specialty.

My issue is how it was done. I have practiced for 31 years, my CP 19 years.Never looked me in the eye! I think a sit down with the CP would have been a professional courtesy. Thanks for letting me rant!

Sorry to hear about your loss of employment.  What a rotten way to let you know.  What is the next step for you?

It wasn't the loss of employment but the manner in which it was done. FYI it had nothing to do with me professionally just less patients and couldn't support 2 PA's Last one hired, first one fired as the saying goes. Actually this may have been a blessing in disguise as I am working on something with a PA in San Antonio and have been dragging my feet. Now I will pick them up and get working on it. To be continued! : )

Completely unprofessional.

It should have been a sit down face to face extolling your strong points and discussing the unfortunate business side of medicine.

Handing someone a basic pink slip is disrespectful and just plain rude.

May another door open quickly and you move on to better!
