Hi all! I have an interview coming up on Feb 24th!

Does anyone know if there is a specific list of medical terms that we should look over? (Or have a good link) I took the class 4 years ago.

Also, how did some of you prepare for the group interview?

Any tips are appreciated.

Would anyone that has already been accepted be willing to share their stats? (GPA/GRE/HCE)?

GPA: 3.54

GRE: 315 (4.0 writing)

HCE: 1600 (EMT-B)

Accepted 11/11/16

Good luck! If you get an interview just be yourself. If you got an interview they know you can handle it academically. They're just looking for the right people for their program.

Well. Super duper late in the game. I have been pondering whether to submit my application to this school just because it is quite spendy, with the CASPA, supplemental, and GRE score sending.. Decided to give it a try.

Congrats to all who have gotten interviews/accepted!

Does anyone know how much the GRE weighs when considering an applicant?

I think that the Critical Reading and Essay weigh more than the math portion. My math score was pretty awful (48th percentile) and I still got accepted!

They take into account the whole application. The GRE shows them only a small portion of you. Valuable, yet small. Be strong in other areas and you should be fine. I have some past classmates get in with 286 and 290. They had excellent LOR's, great grades, and plenty of HCE. Build a well rounded application. Good luck

I have a 2.82 undergrad Gpa . 302 gre score . 200 shadow hours . 200 volunteer hours. Strong letters of recommendation. Should I apply ? I know it's within one month of the deadline. Would that be an issue ?

Why do you have a 2.82?

By the grace of god Got an interview scheduled for mid march with what I'd consider average stats. Any tips from current students or anyone who has already interviewed? No problems really interviewing in general but just wondering if there's any areas I should focus on to increase my chances of nailing it

Would you mind sharing what your stats were?

Good luck at the interview!!

2.82 is due to my poor effort and dedication to school during the first 3 years of undergrad. Also having full time (min. 50 hour/ week) job didn't help. Grades have improved after I wrapped my head around what I decided to do in my career and how important school will play in it. Leaving my job and improving my grades in the last year and a half. A letter of recommendation from a professor states this. Having taken a class of hers as a freshman and receiving a D and then another upper division as a senior and earning an A. South college is on my mind since I have a brother that is a current student of the physical therapy program.

Gpa: 3.2~

Post grad science/pre req: 3.6~

0 hours at send off in August but now almost 1000

GRE was around 75th percentile for everything

Nothing too spectacular for shadowing or letters but they must have liked something

That's why I'm asking. They do pay attention to the direction of your grades ( i.e. an upswing).  I do know one person who got in with a similar GPA, but he was an experienced combat medic with a decade of experience, so I cant presume to know what you should do either way.

Good morning. I recently applied and received my "under review" email. Hoping to get an interview but I don't seem to compare to the previous post I've read. I meet the minimum requirements but it appears everyone else excels the minimum so I'll keep you all posted if I hear anything. This is my 1st time applying for PA school so I'm full of all kinds of mix emotions.

Anyone know of an inexpensive place to stay nearby? I've never been to the area so is an uber from the airport doable or is it quite a distance from the school?

When I interviewed I rented a car from the airport for like $70 for 2 days because it seemed like a better option then constantly needing a taxi/Uber. The airport was about 20 minutes from the school though so an uber wouldn't be crazy expensive. I stayed at Baymont Inn & Suites Knoxville/Cedar Bluff TN. It was about $85/night and was less than 10 minutes from the school. Hope this helps !

I was fortunate enough to receive an interview invite a few days ago for March 17th, so yes they're still sending out invites.

I just want to say thank you to everyone for the encouraging words and advice! The positivity and helpfulness on South's forum speaks volumes for the caliber of students who attend and apply to this program! My interview is coming up in a few weeks and I couldn't be more excited! Good luck to everyone :)

How long did it take everyone from the time the program received all your information to when they offered you an interview?

Does anyone know if South sends out a rejection email to those that will not receive an interview as they decide, or do they wait till their class is full to let everyone know?

C/O 2018 student here. Just wanted to help those applying because I remember how helpful it was reading these posts as an applicant. Here are some general things I can help answer.

South interviews till May. So even if you submitted your application early(like in June) you could receive an interview in April so don't lose hope. You might be one of the lucky ones and submit your app in Feb and be invited for an interview next month. Idk if they send out rejection letters before May, but I would think that if you haven't received a rejection letter, you are still in that maybe pile?

South looks at you at your whole app so don't think you don't have a chance if you have a low HCE, GPA, GRE, etc,.

I don't think they update you on your app status so it is a waiting game.

How many students are interviewed on the interview day? I've read somewhere on these posts that they do 6-7 interview days pervasive through may.

~ 30-35 students I believe. One interview each month.

Has anyone received a rejection from South yet? I applied early (september), and haven't heard anything other than when I updated my transcripts. Just wondering if they send rejection letters continuously, or only after all interviews are competed? Thanks for any info.

Any last minute tips for an interview? I know it's a group interview but any real specific information one might need to know relating to the school/program? Feel pretty comfortable heading into it for the most part

Very cliche, but be yourself. You have the group interview first and then an individual interview. Do well in your group one because admissions will tell you if you're accepted, waitlisted, or rejected during your individual interview (they've already made up their mind when they call you for your individual "interview"). If you are a maybe, it's possible they could use the individual one to get to know you a little better if they are on the fence (don't count on this). Basically, be yourself and do well in your group one. As for the school/program specific questions, I think you will be fine with general knowledge about the program from the school's website.

How long are the group interviews? Also, do they throw out questions for whomever to answer or is it in an orderly fashion? how many questions do they ask in the group interview?

I suggest going back further and reading posts made by other applicants/interviewees within this forum.

Good luck to everyone!

Does anyone know how much the group interview weighs in comparison to the rest of our application? As in, if you killed the interview could that make up for weaknesses elsewhere in your application?
