Jayup Posted July 6, 2016 Just a quick question. I've worked as a home health care worker for the past six months. I usually work in patients houses for a few hours a day helping to provide medicine, giving baths, taking the patients to appointments, etc. However, I worked as a live-in aide for one patient for a week while his family was away. They also have asked me to perform the same task in a few weeks. I was just curious about counting these hours for HCE. Do I count the total time that I am living with the patient or just waking hours/working hours? I just want to clarify for my application later (not applying til next year). Also, this has been a private job and not through the agency I typically work for if that matters.
britrae Posted July 18, 2016 I have the same issue. I was a live-in home health aide for about a year. What I'm probably going to do (unless someone else comments useful information) is just put the amount of hours where I actually provided care, but when I describe the job, I'm going to say something along the lines like "provided continuous care whenever needed, 24/7"...something like that. It might also be helpful to contact a couple schools and see what they say!
