PAwish2016 Posted June 29, 2016 Hello! I was wondering if anyone has heard of someone getting readmitted to a program after being dismissed for academic reasons? It is geared more towards Texas schools but any input is appreciated. Does anyone have any advice on whether I should reapply to the same school or different ones? Any supporting material or actions that would help my application? Thank you in advance.
Administrator rev ronin Posted June 29, 2016 Administrator This has come up before, and while I have no direct experience with it, the sense in previous discussions was that if your own school wasn't inclined to take you back after dismissal, no other school would be likely to do so, either.
UGoLong Posted July 1, 2016 I have seen it happen, though for someone who was on academic probation and just barely missed getting off the next semester. They got readmitted the following year and joined the next class, already in progress. They did not so much reapply as they followed university rules for readmission for people in that condition. I would suspect getting in to another program would be quite difficult. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
MT2PA Posted July 3, 2016 The only cases I've seen are similar to what UGoLong mentions - not so much that a student was dismissed but that they were held back by their program and had to rejoin the next cohort. Those that didn't make it the second time around were permanently dismissed. I guess in theory they could reapply but I would imagine they would need to prove that something significant had changed to make them more prepared (to their original school or any new ones) to handle PA school.
