lauracdahl
I keep seing jobs posted in correctional medicine offering top-notch pay. Does anyone have any experience in correctional medicine that they can share with me? Pros vs cons? Also opinions on being a female PA in that field? Thanks. Simms
Don't do it. There is no pay worth the headache. One employer contracted with a smaller correctional facility which included local and federal prisoners. Health office in furthest corner, guards dumped at our door and would leave, radios never worked, paper work beyond belief to get any service covered and approval needed prior to any care urgent or non urgent. Waste of time and education completing Daniels for daily request for shoes and extra mattresses....
Medic207
Agree with above poster. Turn, run and do not do correctional medicine!
jayzee
I worked in corrections for 5 1/2 years and I really enjoyed it. Consistent, firm and fair helped keep the patient population entitlement at bay.
