csimp2k4
Does anyone have any information on how to obtain a PA license in the US Virgin Islands. Every resource I can find seems to only pertain to MD/DO licensure including from the AAPA. AAPA: http://www.fsmb.org/licensure/fcvs/state-requirements/ssr_virgin_islands Google Search: http://www.fsmb.org/Media/Default/PDF/FCVS/FCVS_usvi_physician_application.pdf
charlottew
I have a classmate who lives on St John, I believe she works on St Thomas at a VA affiliated facility. Looking at the VA information it seems they just require you to be licensed in a US state which allows you to prescribe controlled substances. Edit: further investigation of this USVI job site https://www.vidolviews.org/vosnet/Default.aspx shows there are actually a few PA openings. Qualifications seem to include 'state licensure' - so maybe USVI does not license its own PA's, but employers accept licenses from other states. I am just speculating, however. Edit2: Did some more due diligence, she actually works at a private family practice and holds a VI PA license, in the double digits (!).
DizzyJ
Try reaching out to the Berry University PA program as they have a satellite campus on St. Croix and ask. I did a 5 minutes search as did not find info directly related to PA licensing in USVI. They do have PAs working there for sure. I was offered a couple jobs, but did not accept. Buttercup1709
I am wondering how the process with licensure in the USVI is going? I am in early stages of investigation to begin the process. I can only find references to M.D.s or D.Os. Were you able to move forward in the process?
thinkertdm
I found this on the AAPA website: Board of Medical Examiners, Department of Heatlh, 4600 Sugar Estate, St. Thomas, VI 00802, 304-774-0117 Theres a link, too, but my computer won't let me paste for some reason. Buttercup1709
I wrote them directly and asked for information specific for PA's but have not yet heard back. I have completed the Federation Credentials Verification Service (FCVS) credentialing paperwork. I am just hopeful that as a PA I am not required to take the written and oral medical exams that the MD's are required to complete. Hopefully our NCCPA testing is adequate. cinntsp
Isn't there a PA program that has a satellite campus in the USVI? I would reach out to them. Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
