newpa
Hello there! I hope I'm posting this topic to the appropriate area... :/ I'm currently in my second year of school and will be graduating this August. Ideally, I'd like to get a job in dermatology in Washington! I was wondering if there were any derm physician assistants in Washington that would be willing to be a mentor to me or help point me in the right direction. I plan on joining WAPA and am already a member of SDPA. As a new grad in particular, I realize that it is difficult to 'break into' dermatology. I can dream, nonetheless, right? Any insider information regarding the derm job market there and new grad opportunities would be fantastic. Thank you so much for reading!!
JtheWorker
Does your program have derm rotation contacts that you can set up to do? That would be the best bet. SDPA also has a few good resources for new grads looking to get into derm. If you are looking for more short-term shadowing then it might just be easiest to cold-call some clinics that have PAs in the area you are looking to work. They would be much more able to know the job market than (most) forum members here.
