Simplify
Current EM PA here. A fun opportunity has presented itself--I was approached by a summer camp in my area about teaching wilderness first aid to the staff. This wouldn't be geared towards healthcare providers; it would be basic wilderness first aid. The only catch is that I would need to be able to certify the staff through an official organization. I see that the Red Cross offers a wilderness first aid certification. Does anyone have experience with the process of becoming an RC instructor or any leads with a different organization? As always, appreciate any info.
Administrator rev ronin Posted January 8, 2016 Administrator Share Posted January 8, 2016 None. WMI of NOLS also certifies wilderness first aid instructors, however.
Reality Check 2
http://www.wilderness-medicine.com/default.asp?pg=faculty I have been to the Big Sky Wilderness Medicine Conference in Montana. A very well run course. They might be a resource on certification. One of the docs runs a wilderness med fellowship in California. Let us all know what you find out as far as certification. Sounds fun!!
