coglin5
Hello, I am super nervous about applying for PA schools in the next upcoming cycle, I keep hearing how hard it is to get and am wondering if I am an ideal candidate and was just looking to get some feedback? I should also note that I am trying to stay in the NY metro area to help save money and to help out my family. My overall GPA is 3.445 My science GPA is around 3.5 I have about 350 hours of HCE as an MA About 70 hours of volunteering About 50 hours of shadowing in various settings I also feel confident in two of my letters of recommendation but am wondering if absolutely need one from a PA for admission or if one from a Dr. will suffice? Thanks, All responses appreciated!
Disciple3
GPA looks fine, HCE is very lacking though. Depends on the programs, at many the average hours is around 5000. Just research which schools don't put more emphasis on it and kill it on the GRE and your essay while continuing to build hours.
Glorious_Ignoramus
Second. If you plan to apply this year, then concurrently search for employment which will net you high quality HCE/PCE while you apply. In the event that you find yourself in another application cycle next year, you have a job to fall back on, and will undoubtedly by then have a decent amount of hours under your belt. Rosslyn
Your HCE is probably too low to be competitive. http://www.thepalife.com/hce-paschool/
