futurePAeryka
Hi Guys, I'm planning to apply in the next cycle if possible, so that I would start PA school right after undergrad. I'm currently a junior finishing up my fall semester. I recently ordered an iPad and I am awaiting its arrival. I was thinking that it would be helpful to transition away from paper and pen to using an iPad in class to take notes and study before I get to graduate school where that seems to be the norm. However, I have been hearing that programs are starting to supply students with iPads when you start school. Is that the norm now? Should I just wait until I get accepted to see if they offer it as apart of the tuition?
MT2PA
I don't know that I'd say it's the norm. Is it happening? Yes. Are the majority of schools doing it? I don't think so. There are so many variables out there for you - where you will apply, where you'll get accepted, were you'll actually go if you get in on round 1 - that it is impossible to know if an iPad will be part of your program. If you want to get comfortable with the iPad apps and note taking, get it now while you're in school so you don't spend the first weeks of PA school figuring out how to take notes a new way. You can always resell it if your school does require you to get one from them.
