Questions for Incoming LSUHSC PA Students or Potential

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone. I know what you all are going through right now... I was just in your shoes. Although life is hectic now, I used this forum when I was going through the process and it put me at ease. If you do have any questions about the process or if you get interviews (what to expect) please drop a message and I will try and get back to you. Good luck everyone!

Hey. I know since the change to CASPA for the 1st year the deadline is around december... I know there are a lot of applications thus far and a group of applicants are beginning to be selected for interviews... for me... I found out about the interview in late november and early december. I do know that interviews will be on mondays in jan, feb and i believe the first week in march. So... my best guess would be interview invites after Dec 1st... interviews starting Jan 2nd or Jan 9th. hope that helps!

Hi Steve,

Do you know approximately how many interviews they offer, or what the criterium are? I am thinking that they must score packages and then select the top 50? for interviews or something to that effect. Roughly how many interviewers take part in each interview? I told myself I would stop worrying when I submitted, but we all know that's impossible.

Thanks!

@theshandon, i know last year they offered 130 interviews approx... maybe a 115 so i would guess the numbers will be the same... maybe up to 200 because i guess instead of 4 days of interviews we now have 3 months of them so ya idk.. haha 200 i would say.. ill get back to you if i hear anything else... Pretty much just know that if you have an interview.. they think you have the potential to be a good PA or survive the program...they focus on how you interview and how you carry and present yourself aswell as how you interact with the other candidates and the PA students that you will be working with during the interview day...... take care and good luck

If they do it like last year There are 4-6 evaluating members of the admissions committee. Each interviewee is granted a 15-30 minute interview with 2 members of the adcom group. While you wait for your interview you wait with a group and are escorted throughout the facility by current 1st year PA students. You have the ability to mingle with them, ask questions, etc. I believe that you are graded on your participation and professionalism during your "waiting" period with the current students as much as your face to face with the adcom members so keep that in mind :)

Some interview invitations have already been sent out, depending on how early you submitted your application. I understand there were ~100 applicants in August - so lots of apps to kull through for the admissions committee.

WHAT?!?! In fall 2010 they only had 177 applicants. They only accept like 36. That is insanely competitive.

I believe that Fall 2010 was the first year they converted to a Masters program. I understand they struggled to fill this class and went several people deep into their wait list (one of the wait list students was my group leader during interviews last year).
