Graduate111
My clinic is booking me with Medicare patients but I am not signed up with Medicare or anything. They told me to document at the end of my note that I discussed the patients with the doctor. Is this allowed? I thought I couldnt see Medicare unless I was registered with them or something
wilso2ar
No this is not allowed unless you are billing incident too and meeting all the criteria that it requires. What you are describing is for bc/bs. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Administrator rev ronin Posted November 20, 2015 Administrator Share Posted November 20, 2015 The basic rule to keep yourself out of medical trouble is pretty straightforward: Never lie. Ever. For any reason. So, if you discussed them with the doctor before you write your note, you can say you discussed them with the doctor in your note. Otherwise, you're lying, and opening yourself up to major medicare fraud penalties.
Graduate111
Well right now my supervising physician sees the patient after me. I'm just confused why they are even being put on my schedule if I'm not signed up with medicare. Wasn't sure if this is a normal thing
Reality Check 2
You need your own medicare number and NEVER LIE. Sounds like your clinic is using you to pad billing. ASK questions, look up CMS regs and do not allow your integrity to be questioned.
