RuralER/Ortho
Have some CME money to go through... Any recommendations on courses/certificates you have taken that have been worthwhile? Just finished up ATLS - was very well done and even enjoyable (obviously can be location/instructor dependent on that). Pretty new to EM... have the basics now ACLS, PALS, ATLS. Even reading/reference material would be helpful. Thanks!

Rob77
Would you recommend these courses to someone who was looking to get into EM? I currently have BLS/ACLS/PALS. I've been a PA for 10 years 9 in FP 1 in UC. Was wondering what certs/courses to do. Rob
charlottew
I think the FCCS (fundamental critical care support) is a good course to take if you want to learn about taking care of the more acutely sick. It's 2 full days. I can't speak to how it would help in being hired in EM (not having worked EM myself), but it's a very substantive course and seems like it would fit a gap in your background Rob77. I just posted it. You and a few others helped me assemble it in the first place.
Boatswain2PA
ACLS and PALS are good courses.....for nurses and techs. If you are going to consider yourself an emergency medicine PA, then I encourage you to study resuscitation well beyond that which is covered in ACLS and PALS.
