UTAH: Rocky Mountain University - Accepted 2018

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to start a thread for everyone that had been accepted into the program at RMU for the 2018 class.  Thought it would give us an opportunity to get to know one another!!

My name is Dominic(obviously) and I'm from Michigan.  I can't wait to get started and to get to know all of you!!

Hi Dominic!! I have also been accepted to Rocky Mountain for this upcoming cohort! My name is Sami and I am from Seattle, Washington. I can't wait to get to know you and everyone else who will be in our class!! Congrats on being accepted :). I'm looking forward to embarking on this new adventure together!

I would also love to start a facebook page for the RMUoHP Class of 2018! I thought it might be a fun way to get to know each other and ask questions, etc. before we start in May! Would you be interested in that? If so, send me a private message with your first and last name so that I can add you on facebook and then add you to the group (I will create it tonight after I get home from work).

Hello,

Congratulations on getting accepted!

I am a member of the inaugural class. The facebook group is an excellent idea. My group did the same thing. Additionally, you can contact Jess (the admin assistant) and see if she will email your facebook group information to the rest of the students that get accepted. Just a thought.

Please feel free to ask questions about the school/area as the time gets closer. I know there is discussion of setting up a "mentor" program between the current 1st year students and the incoming cohort before you start class. This will serve as a way of giving you 1 on 1 access to a current student for any questions or concerns you may have.

Good luck!

Hi MDRTX!

Thank you so much for reaching out and for your suggestions! I will definitely try to contact Jess to see if she can email out the facebook group link to accepted students. Great idea! I am also very excited that we will be receiving a mentor from the current PA cohort. I think that will be hugely beneficial for our upcoming class!

I actually am curious as to housing options in the Provo area. Where do most students in your cohort live? In Provo, Orem, or other nearby cities? Are there any apartment complexes that seem to be popular among Rocky Mountain students? I am from Seattle, WA and am very unfamiliar with Utah, so any advice would be much appreciated.

Also, one more question: I think it would be really fun to design sweatshirts or jackets with Rocky Mountain's logo on them and a cool saying or other design for our cohort. Did your class do anything like that? I don't know if there are any embroidery shops in the Provo area that could do that for us. Just thought it would be a cool idea and something special we could do for our class :). Are any of the accepted students interested in doing this?

Thanks in advance for all your help! It'll be great to meet your cohort in person in 5 short months :)

SamiH - Those are all great ideas. Did you ever start an RMUoHP FB group?  Also, I am accepted for the RMUoHP PA program starting next year and I am from Provo.  I don't know about popular apartment complexes among PA students, but there are literally thousands of good apartment options available.  Anywhere in the Provo/Orem/Springville area would be very close to school.  The further south you go, the more affordable your housing options are likely to be (ie: Springville, Mapleton, Spanish Fork, Salem, Payson, Santaquin...).  The valley is home to two large Universities and caters specifically to students in a lot of ways.  Also, there are several new very large apartment complexes being built (most are nearly complete). It should be very easy for you to find a place to live (many of them cater to pet owners, as well, if that's an issue). There are also several embroidery shops where you would be able to get shirts made. I'm not great at designing t-shirts, but I am sure we can figure something out. There are also several websites that you can use to do the same thing.

Let me know if you have any other questions about the area.

Hi Christy! Thanks so much for your advice regarding housing options in the area :)

I did start a facebook group! This is the link: https://www.facebook.com/groups/930792237007653/

You may need to friend request me first since I am the admin of the group (my first name on FB is Samantha). Hopefully it'll be straight forward, but you are welcome to private message me if you have any problems!

Hi Everyone ! So excited to start with all of you in May . I am also from another state, California. I know nothing about Utah and good places to live ! I would love to possibly live in the same apartment housing complex as someone in our class. If anyone is interested in that or even possibly a roommate situations, (2 bedroom apartment). Please contact me directly! I want to live in Provo, or a neighboring city more north to be closer to SLC airport :)

Also, Sami I just added the Fb :)
