JeanandGene Posted August 17, 2011 Hi all, I was wondering if CASPA takes into account how many credits a class was when figuring out your final GPA. For example, where I took microbio, it was a 5 credit course. Will they standardize it down to a 4 credit course(since most microbio courses are 4), or will they still keep it as 5 credits when weighing my final gpa? Also, I retook genchem 1 and 2, and both of these classes were 4.5 credits. when i originally took genchem(at another school) they were only 4 credits each. Basically, im just wondering if the final gpa will be calculated using the amount of credits designated by the school it was originally taken at. Thank you!
allisones Posted August 17, 2011 i took some classes at a community college that were very inappropriately labeled as 5 credit courses. They will forever be 5 credits in every GPA calculation ever. Kind of lame, since it makes strange classes be really weighted.
JeanandGene Posted August 17, 2011 Author so, in my case, if i am depending on these heavily weighted classes to help my gpa, they should do the trick?
xx1playgurlxx Posted August 17, 2011 if you got A's in those heavily weighted courses they should help your gpa.
Allegro Posted August 18, 2011 As long as they are semester credits, yes, you'll keep the 5. The only time your credits will be altered is if they are quarter credits, in which case CASPA converts them to semester hours when calculating your GPA.
