JDLeckie Posted August 12, 2011 This area of the forum looks a little dead...thought I'd brush off the cobwebs :) Anyone applying to MCG/GHSU this year?
JDLeckie Posted August 14, 2011 Author sweet! Should be submitting my app online tonight. I keep reading and re-reading the directions making sure everything is squared away :)
jaaldana Posted September 11, 2011 Hey all- Do you know how many out-of-state applicants they accept? I would love to apply this year, but I'm not sure if I would even have a good chance of getting in. I am originally from Texas, but have been living and working in California for the past 3 years. Any advice would be much appreciated! Thanks :)
JDLeckie Posted September 12, 2011 Author Hey there, I hope everyone is starting to get calls for interviews! Not sure when those start..so let's hope soon. My application is still not COMPLETE/UNDER REVIEW because one of my references is not-dependable... >:( She assured me that she'd get the letter written, but her letter (or lack thereof) is what is holding up the works...so my application will never be seen by the AdCom if a third reference isn't submitted? Guess I need to find someone else and quick...
Paw22 Posted September 12, 2011 I had that same problem too, had to keep emailing and eventually reminding her in person to get it through. My application's been "complete/ready for review" for quite a while.. no interview calls yet :/ Good luck on that last ref!
JDLeckie Posted September 14, 2011 Author I was told by a PA that graduated from MCG's program, and who is still in touch with the department there, that interviews have started this week. I'm not sure how the interview process works, if it is a single person in front of a panel, or several people in a group setting... hopefully this is just the first round for all those early-bird applicants :) Best wishes and "Accepted" letters to all of you!
bbrown41788 Posted September 28, 2011 hey guys, I just got back from my interview at MCG/GHSU. I was called about 2 weeks ago (mid Sept). The process was a full day, starting w/ individual interviews with a pair of faculty, then interviews with the entire applicant group (11 ppl in mine). Presentation, tour, then had to stand up and introduce ourselves to the faculty and then draw out of a hat a random question to answer on the spot! Overall not too bad, the random question was definitely the most nerve-racking part. Only accepting 40 spots out of hundreds, and statistics show only 1 out-of-stater last year...good luck to all
kblackshear Posted October 4, 2011 Received interview invitation this afternoon via e-mail. Interview scheduled for Monday, 10/10. Extremely nervous and extremely excited...
Mwilli5009 Posted October 5, 2011 @kblackshear: If you don't mind answering, when did you submit your materials to GHSU and when did your status become "ready for review." I submitted mine in late august and my status is still ready for review. Getting somewhat nervous now.

My references were very slow to complete my letters of recommendation, so my app didn't actually become "ready for review" until Aug 29. On Sep 15, I received a transcript evaluation from GHSU via regular mail. It was just a list of all of my prerequisite courses and the grade I received in each. It was probably just a reminder that I have 2 required courses still in progress. The interview invite came via email about 3 weeks later. Keep the faith. I think there's still time.

Thanks for the reply! I received the transcript evaluation roughly around the same time you did. Our schedules are virtually identical, actually. Therefore, I am going to hope to hear something next week. They interview into December, so I am not in a full-scale panic yet. GHSU is my number one school and in my hometown, so I am simply spending way too much time analyzing the situation. :-) Good luck with your interview by the way!
nome209 Posted October 22, 2011 I think it going to be very hard for someone from out of state to get in, but you can try. GOD can work it out.
JDLeckie Posted October 24, 2011 Author Got an email to interview! Received the email on Friday afternoon 10/21/11... Interview is for 10/28/11! less than a Week to request off work....hmmm...hope my boss is feeling gracious...:/
JDLeckie Posted October 28, 2011 Author I got the day off! ...though I have the feeling they may make me pay for it... anyone else interviewing tomorrow at GHSU? My suit is good to go, got some good research down, thinking long and hard about possible questions...now, if my stomach would quit turning, this might be somewhat fun! :)
kblackshear Posted November 11, 2011 Congrats Mwilli5009, and good luck! I interviewed back on 10/10 and am waiting anxiously! They told us it could be as late as between Thanksgiving and Christmas before we hear anything. I'm interviewing on Tuesday!
JDLeckie Posted November 12, 2011 Author Good luck Mwilli! Eat a good breakfast, the process takes all day :)
JDLeckie Posted December 10, 2011 Author I got my letter today! I'M IN! It doesn't feel real yet. Anyone else?? Looking forward to meeting all my new classmates!
melscott Posted December 27, 2011 Congratulations! I'm interviewing on January 6th. Any tips for the big day? :)
Paw22 Posted January 18, 2012 Does anyone else still have the 'Ready for Review' status? *slightly concerned :saddd:*.. I'm not even sure if they're still doing interviews? If anyone could shed some light on that, it would be much appreciated!
JDLeckie Posted January 18, 2012 Author I had the "Ready for Review" status until the AdComm made their decision. It had that status before the interview and even afterwards. I am not sure if they are still doing interviews or not...I was emailed about the interview on a Friday..if that helps :) Best wishes to you!
Paw22 Posted January 18, 2012 Haha thanks JDLeckie, I've already put a deposit down for an out-of-state school, but it would be really nice if I could stay in state! I'll continue waiting I suppose :T Congrats to you and others that have been accepted!
