FSUnoles Posted August 5, 2011 Author thanks guys they were super creative with 3 tests this week. pass it around to your colleagues
Joelseff Posted August 6, 2011 Cute...clever...a little bit naive, but cute ;) Agreed!!! but still lol'd....No we don't NEED a doctorate....
Kaepora Posted August 16, 2011 ...a little bit naive... Haha! Just a little. One of my BIGGEST problems with PA/NP grads is when they say they do med school in 2 years... I would encourage them to seek out and engage a PA-->MD/DO and find out what they think about that. Do they do a TON in 2 years? Yes. Do they cover med school in 2 years? Noooooooooooooooo. Not that this was addressed in the video. I was just expanding on the naivety....
primadonna22274 Posted August 16, 2011 Ahem. Med school in 2 yr?! Certainly not all of it. There are 7 of us in the first APAP cohort at LECOM (the "bridge"). It's only 4th wk and we are all tired. I think the consensus is "wow, we NEVER learned that in PA school..." Even Anatomy which should be a familiar subject is covered in such minuscule detail and the testing is frequent and comprehensive. New subjects like Histology and Embryology are covered similarly and at breakneck speed. If you add up the credits per class, it works out to 40 credits for this 20-wk semester. FOUR-ZERO. And we thought we were tired in PA school...but oh man, I'm still happy to be here. ;) Haha! Just a little. And we thought we were tired in PA school...but oh man, I'm still happy to be here. ;) This is great. What would be great for PAs is if more of these PA--> Physician bridge programs opened BUT were exclusive to PAs. That would really throw a wrench into the DNP movement. And over time there would be a large population of physicians that were PAs once upon a time who I'm sure would be very vocal and supportive of PAs. If PAs are not going to try and break free from the "oppression" of the AMA then this is the way you'll have to go. A PA doctorate will just make soooo many problems. Talk about confusing. Personally I already think a "masters in physician assistant studies" is confusing. But a doctorate in it? What is physician assistant studies? Why can't you just award a masters in medicine? Then the bridge programs can just bump you up to the doctorate in medicine? Ugh, like I've said in previous posts just change your dang name and start telling people what you are. It might take time and money but it's not like you're doing anything else is it?
