limo1028 Posted August 4, 2011 Hey guys. I am a new graduate being offered a job in orthopedic surgery in New Jersey. Base 32-38 hours per week not including 4-5 days on call per month. Work will mostly be in the hospital/OR. I was wandering what a reasonable salary base I should be asking for as it seems they will be feeling me out as to what I think is fair.
myironlung Posted August 4, 2011 this is off topic but how long did it take you to get your nj license?
bradt24 Posted August 17, 2011 New grad too. I just signed a contract with an upper extremity/trauma surgeon. 40-60 hours a week, one weekend call q 6w, one night a week call (low acuity stuff). 75k base, bonus is 50% of everything I make over the overhead, 5k raise q 6months, 401k 3% match + 50 cents/dollar for an additional 2% of my salary, $1800 + 1 week CME, health insurance/dental and vision for family costs $400 per month, malpractice covered, all of my professional expenses covered (PANCE, credentials, state and DEA license), and 4 weeks PTO. I may have missed something.
