jlheat3 Posted August 3, 2011 Just wondering if anyone has heard anything about when invites would begin going out? Just curious as to when they will start the selection process.. Good luck to everyone this year.
NeoTrion Posted August 4, 2011 From what someone told me, they wont be interviewing until after August. But that is pure rumor at this point. I tried emailing and calling, but no news yet.
jlheat3 Posted August 4, 2011 Author Thanks for the info.. Just get excited to see others posting they got interviews..lol With the new deadline and rolling admissions I just thought the process was going to be starting soon..
40y/o applicant Posted August 7, 2011 We go on break mid to end August so I am sure no one will be interviewing until after that. I'm not sure but my earliest guess would be September.
jlheat3 Posted August 8, 2011 Author Thank you for the info.. Not sure where your at in the program but sounds like you should be starting rotations soon.. So good luck
courtney.luoma Posted August 15, 2011 Talked with Ms.Christensen from the Tech PA program in Midland and was told there are no interviews planned at this time and not any in August. I was told to call back in September. Hope this helps!
jlheat3 Posted August 16, 2011 Author Thank you Courtney for the update.. Maybe invites will start trickling out in September.. Does anyone know how they contact you? By looking at prior years it looks like by email but wasn't sure.
courtney.luoma Posted August 18, 2011 You should find out by email first. Hope this helps. Good luck to you!!
bcheslop Posted August 23, 2011 Has anyone received an email from them? (either confirming application received or an interview invite). I haven't heard anything yet.
jlheat3 Posted August 23, 2011 Author Recieved the following email 7/26: Thank you for your application to the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center Physician Assistant Studies program. We have received your application from CASPA and have completed a preliminary evaluation of required prerequisite courses necessary for admission into the program. You have completed all of the apllication requirements. The Physician Assistant program will conduct interviews on a rolling basis as completed applications are received and reviewed. You will be contacted as to whether or not you have been invited for an interview. Interviews will be held in Midland on a rolling basis as completed applications are received and reviewed, until the class has been filled. We look forward to working with you. Hope that helps..
NeoTrion Posted August 24, 2011 Yeah same thing at the end of June. So at least you know you have been forwarded. I did get a weird email from ttu saying something about a new parking structure in Lubbock. My guess was that it was a mistake. Anyone else get that?
a-brannon Posted September 2, 2011 We haven't seen any interviewees on campus yet, but the new semester has only been in session for a little more than a week. BIG recommendation: when you get your interview time, book a room at a hotel right away. Don't wait! It is next to impossible to find unreserved hotel rooms on short notice during the week in Midland, mainly because of the oil market right now.
jlheat3 Posted September 6, 2011 Author Thank you a-brannon for the information. Hope you are doing well in the program.. Good luck :)
afaughtcwbysfan Posted September 6, 2011 This was how it was last year- If you got your app in early (june/july-ish) you should be hearing something early/mid-september. hope this helps!
courtney.luoma Posted September 6, 2011 Thanks for the info! So exciting! Hope we know something soon!
NeoTrion Posted September 6, 2011 I did notice that instead of the September 1st deadline for the supplemental application that they had, the website has moved it back to December 1st. I do remember seeing it was moved up, but I know that CASPA still has Tech locked out since they told them September 1st. Anyone else notice this?
texaspa2014 Posted September 6, 2011 I did notice that instead of the September 1st deadline for the supplemental application that they had, the website has moved it back to December 1st. I do remember seeing it was moved up, but I know that CASPA still has Tech locked out since they told them September 1st. Anyone else notice this? CASPA doesn't have Tech locked out. I changed my mind and decided to apply to Tech on Sept 2 and CASPA allowed me to.
NeoTrion Posted September 7, 2011 Hmm I stand corrected then. A friend of mine said he was applying and couldn't find it. I just went there and it looks like they changed it to 12/1/11. I called CASPA and they confirmed that it was changed at the request of the program. I know some of us found it odd that they put September 1st as the deadline, but no one had heard anything.
texaspa2014 Posted September 7, 2011 I did notice that they were listed on that email about the programs due on Sept 1. So this was an actual change in due date and not just an error?
NeoTrion Posted September 7, 2011 I remember talking to one of the admissions advisers for the program, and she knew about the change in date. Her name was Amanda Hothan. Plus it was all over their web site as well. I suppose anything could happen, but I am thinking that they changed the date. CASPA does not change due dates without the right persons say so. I guess if this was true perhaps it was just an over ambitious date, or maybe they didn't get enough applications? I am sure we will eventually find out one way or another.
courtney.luoma Posted September 7, 2011 My two cents... they probably didn't get enough qualified applicants and by extending the deadline they're hoping for a stronger applicant pool. I'm interested to get the scoop on this :)
jlheat3 Posted September 7, 2011 Author I know that I am suppose to stay positive. But now I am worried that I wasn't a strong enough applicant. I am just guessing, but I wonder if they just haven't recieved the amount of applications they usually get because of the date change.
NeoTrion Posted September 8, 2011 Well like I said none of that was for sure. I was just putting some ideas out there. Remember it could also be that the time table was a little to ambitious for them.
