What's it like to be new Navy PA?

Recommended Posts

What's it like when you first start out as a PA in the Navy? Are you likely to get assigned to one of the 3 major hospitals? Do you get options when it comes to what area you will be working in or is it based off of what's needed? Is it mostly working in acute care or can you work in outpatient setting? Are there any opportunities to get experience in a specialty such as dermatology, radiology, etc?

Depends on where you work.

Likely not, though you can.

It's based on need. You can be given a choice if there is multiple areas of need, though things can change things at any moment.

It's all outpatient.

No, there's no need. But I handle most everything the specialists do in Family medicine. I rarely give referrals.
