jessbrod
I'm just looking to see if there are any practicing PAs with a criminal background here and if you would be willing to tell me about how that has affected you.
Reality Check 2
Interesting post. You cannot get a license anywhere I know of with a felony history. Misdemeanor - yeah.
jessbrod
Do you know of anyone who obtained a license (or even got rejected for licensure) with a misdemeanor?
Administrator rev ronin Posted November 2, 2015 Administrator Share Posted November 2, 2015 It will depend on a lot of things, pretty much what the crime was, how long ago it has been, and what you can document about how you've changed since. There are a number of previous forum posts about people with issues of DUI, trespass, minor consuming, and the like.
cc56
I agree. Time, occurrences, and what it is will make a difference. If you murdered/raped/molested children etc... You are hosed. Traffic violations/minor things years ago you should be okay. I had to submit a background check for PA school, I suspect if your school does that and you pass you will be ok most of the time for a State license. Guest ERCat
In AZ, if you have anything that involves a "crime of moral turpitude" -- basically things like false reporting to law enforcement, shoplifting, and armed robbery -- even if those charges were dismissed and found to be brought against you in bad faith, they'll still make you wait for a board meeting to be "approved." Which can add months of waiting. Any other misdemeanors that were dismissed are okay.
