julypescasub
Hi all, would appreciate some advice in the following; I am in the process of interviewing for a couple of jobs in Primary Care and it seems most positions out there require you to see a considerable volume of pts in an 8 hrs work day. What would be an acceptable # from your perspective ? Thanks.
Administrator rev ronin Posted October 26, 2015 Administrator Share Posted October 26, 2015 In many ways, it depends on what sort of visit the patients need, what administrative expectations they have for you, and whether or not they're paying you overtime. Moderator EMEDPA Posted October 26, 2015 Moderator Share Posted October 26, 2015 to start 2/hr is reasonable with the understanding you will be asking lots of questions. after a few months 3/hr is reasonable if there are not a lot of procedures or new pts or high acuity pts. If it is all rx refills and management of stable pts high volume is possible.
KMD16
^ agreed. Negotiate seeing mixture of pts. I wouldn't count on procedure at this time especially if you're a newbie.

If you're seeing complex/geriatric patients, or if you are expected to address a bevy of meaningful use topics at each visit, that's going to be quite a problematic pace to maintain as a new graduate.
