browndog
I know that some of you folks have experience with mission work and travel to 3rd world countries. My wife and daughter are going on a mission trip to Honduras this summer. What recommendations do you have for a traveling med kit? Z pack, flagyl, augmentin, pain meds, medrol dosepack??? Any help would be appreciated. browndog
bradtPA
Parts of Honduras are chloroquine resistant malaria areas. Be sure to check to CDC website for the area you are going to for prophylaxis. I would bring plenty of Cipro, immodium, doxycycline, and mupiracin ointment.
jmj11
I will add a caveat. I would check the experts at CDC or travel medicine sites and follow their advice. Be careful not to over-medicate yourself. I went to Nepal a year ago and the only person who had any trouble (except for the doctor who fell off a cliff) was an ER physician who over-medicated himself. He put himself on Cipro, Flagyl, acetazolomide and prednisone. He got sicker than a dog . . . until he got that crap out of his system (he had over-reacted to our elevation climb to 15,000 ft) then he was fine.
