Meds for 3rd World Travel

Recommended Posts

I know that some of you folks have experience with mission work and travel to 3rd world countries. My wife and daughter are going on a mission trip to Honduras this summer. What recommendations do you have for a traveling med kit? Z pack, flagyl, augmentin, pain meds, medrol dosepack???

Any help would be appreciated.

I will add a caveat. I would check the experts at CDC or travel medicine sites and follow their advice. Be careful not to over-medicate yourself. I went to Nepal a year ago and the only person who had any trouble (except for the doctor who fell off a cliff) was an ER physician who over-medicated himself. He put himself on Cipro, Flagyl, acetazolomide and prednisone. He got sicker than a dog . . . until he got that crap out of his system (he had over-reacted to our elevation climb to 15,000 ft) then he was fine.
