Attempts: 3 I guess third times a charm. The first time I applied to UMDNJ and Seton Hall University with incomplete pre-requisites (denied to both). This was during my senior year at Rutgers University. The second time, I finished all pre-requisites, did shadowing, and applied to 10 programs. I got waitlisted to 3 programs and denied immediately to 7. OUCH right? lol Did not get into any of the three waitlisted schools. The third time, I took EMT training, applied to 6 programs, and submitted CASPA app earlier. I've decided to attend Touro College without interviewing anywhere else because its a two year program, 100% first time pass rate for PANCE last year, and it starts earlier (this January). I'm ready for PA school ASAP! Most programs denied me because of my GPA, which is average not very competitive according to them. In my opinion, grades do not define a person but they have so many applicants for a limited number of spots. So that is probably the best criteria they can use to weed people out. The competition is Fierce but do not give up! Needless to say, I did not give up and my perseverance payed off. All you need is one program to accept you! When choosing a program, just be sure its accredited and that they have a good PANCE first time pass rate. Remember all programs prepare you for the same exact national certifying exam. Good Luck to all those who are still trying to get into PA school! :)

Volunteer, UCSD Undergraduate Research Program, Habitat for Humanity, PA Shadowing Schools Applied: Um, in retrospect, way too many... Application Submitted Date: 6/28/10 Schools Received Application Date: 7/6/10 Interview Invites: Stony Brook, Rosalind Franklin, UT Southwestern, Salus, MCPHS Worcester, Midwestern Downers Grove & Glendale, Quinnipiac, UMDNJ, Hofstra, DeSales, Saint Francis, University of Florida (to be continued...) Denied: Philadelphia University (to be continued...) Withdrew Application: Salus, Midwestern Downers Grove & Glendale, Hofstra, DeSales, Saint Francis, University of Florida (to be continued...) Waitlisted: (to be continued...) Accepted: Rosalind Franklin (to be continued?) Attending: (to be determined...) Attempts: First To be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if I set the record for most schools applied, or at least came close. I felt I was good on paper, but I just couldn't be sure, seeing how competitive programs are especially given the rise in applicants over the years. But mostly, I was pretty terrified of interviews actually, and I felt like I needed as many interviews as possible to make sure I got in at least somewhere. Well lo and behold, my very first interview, at Rosalind Franklin, resulted in quick offer of acceptance! And coming out of that interview, I did not feel confident at all about how it went. But I guess that just goes to show how severely I underestimated my chances, and how I really should have had more confidence in myself. Granted, I hope the rest of these interviews result in similarly positive fashion. But at this point, I can't complain. The process is going great so far, and I'll be going to PA school somewhere next year!

jtjaviPA86
Does anyone know the interview dates for Wake Forest. If so, does anyone know if those slots have already been filled up. I just received an email from them and I don't entirely know if that means I'm rejected or if I still have a chance, but all the interview slots have been filled. I applied kind of late. "We have received your application to the Wake Forest University School of Medicine Department of Physician Assistant Studies for the Class of 2013, beginning June 6, 2011. We have also received your GRE scores. A preliminary review of your application has been completed. We are not able to invite you for an interview at this time; however, your application is still being considered for future interview dates. Should an interview slot become available, you will hear from us no later than early January, 2011. We request that you not call or e-mail regarding your application status unless there is a problem, as this has a tendency to slow down the process. Thank you for your interest in the Wake Forest University School of Medicine Physician Assistant Program." keydanielle
tjvick... not sure what schools you applied to but most of the ones I did had a minimum of 1000 on the GRE. I know 50 points really isn't much, but unfortunetly schools at first glance care about that kind of stuff. I also was asked to provide at least 2 letters of rec from healthcare professionals. They didn't care so much for having a letter from my old boss that characterized by work ethics for 5 years in a medical malpractice legal firm. You have more hours of patient care than I do. My GPA is 3.70, science 3.6?. I have 4 out of 6 interviews scheduled and still have one more possible to schedule. You seem to have a good profile except for the 2 things I mentioned. If you don't get in anywhere this year, I would definitely recommend taking the GRE one more time (I bought a book $20 and just studied the vocab and did pretty well) and have 2 or all 3 letters of rec written from the 3 PA's you shadowed and re-apply next year. I've meet a number of people who have been at interviews that this was their 2nd year applying and got interviews from all schools that didn't get any their first year. Don't give up :)
