Congrats to those receiving interviews! Like caleb_jo, I'm a first year in the program. Please feel free to ask me any questions you might have, especially about the interview process. I know Doris is great at sending out lots of info, but I remember feeling a bit "out of the loop" about the process, as I was (am) an out-of-stater.

See some of you in a few weeks and best of luck to the others!

Cheers, Erin

My husband was invited to interview November 6-7. He's too busy watching kids to get on this forum. I'm at work twiddling my thumbs (not really).

His stats are:

cGPA: 3.99

sGPA: 4.00 (but that is a bit skewed because he didn't take many science courses)

PCE: 9000+ with Community Treatment Alternatives; Eye Donor Coordinator, etc.

Other: Masters in Clinical Psych, speaks Spanish, from Utah, stay-at-home dad for last 5 years (good/bad?)

I look forward to meeting you and your significant others if things go our way.

BTW: I graduated from the U of U law school in 2010 and had many rejections at many places before finally getting a spot at the U. For those who were rejected this round, keep trying.

Congrats to those of you who got interviews! I'm here to let those of you know that DIDN'T get interviews that you STILL HAVE CHANCES! I applied 3 years in a row and got in my third year! I am a current first year! My first year, I got rejected. 2nd year I scored an interview and was waitlisted at spot 10. 2 weeks before the program started, I was spot number 1... and never got an offer. My 3rd year, I interviewed again and got in. That year, I hardly prepped at all and was just myself whereas I stressed myself out prepping the year before that. That's all I can say... BE YOURSELF! Best of luck guys! If you have any questions, feel free to holler.

Congratulations to all those who will be interviewing at UPAP!

I am a first year student at UPAP and I applied to the program twice.  I learned a lot in the process of being rejected that first year, and I would say that the experience made me a much stronger applicant the second time around.

If you have any questions about the process or would like any sort of advice, let me know.

And to those of you who haven't received an interview invitation yet, don't lose hope!  Getting into PA school is a difficult feat these days, but if you really want to do this, you will find a way to make it happen.

We will see some of you soon!

Hey everyone. I too am a first year student and was accepted into UPAP on my third try. I worked really hard to better my application each year. I didn't have the highest GPA, but worked to improve it every year. My story is proof that it really isn't all about grades. They really do care about the complete picture.  If you didn't get an invitation keep working hard. If this is your dream you'll make it happen if you don't give up. I would be happy to answer any questions about applying to PA school, interviewing, or anything else! Best of luck to you all!

Hello All,

I got my interview invitation with the rest of everybody and will be interviewing Nov 6th & 7th. This is my second time applying and my wife explained that it's customary to post "stats", so here they are:

cGPA: 3.00

sGPA: 3.00

Bachelors Degree in Behavioral Science.

PCE/HCE: 17,000+ in the ER (ED), inpatient psych, skilled nursing homes, and group homes.

Shadow Hours: ~10 DO, 100+ PT/OT, 33 PA

Volunteer work: Habitat for Humanity, Healthy Habits, Special Olympics, MS PT Clinic, Anatomy STA, Religious Services Escort (for the intellectually challenged)

I'm excited to be meeting with the other candidates, current students, and UPAP staff and interviewers. I feel a bit like an underdog and I am proud to be standing with you all during this process. Best wishes to everybody and I'll see some of you in November.

I have to say everyone that was offered an interview sounds like they have amazing life experience! I can't wait to meet everyone. It sounds like it would be wonderful to be part of a class from this group of people. CoryRice, I will be there the same weekend! Congratulations on the interview! You deserve it. Altaholic’s husband (his wife posted introducing him) will be there that weekend as well and they sound like an awesome couple. I’m really looking forward to the experience! See you soon and congrats again!

Congratulations to all those offered an interview. I myself will be interviewing on Nov. 6th and 7th. I also live in Salt Lake City with my wife and kids in an place about 3 mins away from the PA program at the University of Utah. I am happy to help anyone out who is coming into town and needs a cheap place to stay. We have an Airbnb type place in our basement that has a private bedroom and bathroom. Your welcome to message me back and we can talk. We can drive to the interview together even. First come first serve. Hope I can help a few of you out who are flying in from out of state. Good luck!

  • 2 weeks later...

How did everyone's interviews go today? I'm just curious if it's as intimidating as I've heard from past years!

Also, I will be interviewing next weekend on Nov 6-7, but I am from Southern California and am not sure what to wear for the colder weather. I think my feet will freeze in heels! Unless you guys are indoors for the majority of the day. If you guys have suggestions, that would be great!

Health happy the interviews were awesome! Everyone there was very friendly. The interviews were just about really getting to know you. Don't stress too much :) all of the other candidates were also awesome, I'd be happy to be in a class with all of them! The program is truly amazing and you can tell they take a real interest in the students. As to the weather, it was warm while I was here but I don't know too much about it. You are indoors for the whole time besides the tour. Hope that helps and good luck to you!
