Tips for Newbie

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I worked in a plastic/reconstructive practice for 6 months and recently switched jobs to work in a small general surgery group.

I have moved from a large practice with a team of 6 PA/NPs and 8 doctors covering 13 hospitals, to a much smaller group with 2 surgeons and little old me covering 6 hospitals.

I am feeling intimidated not by the practice or docs, but by my own internal pressure to perform well. I can ask them questions and know I have lots to learn, but I'd like to hear from other physician assistants who have worked in general surgery or similar and have any advice.

Do any of you have any practical tips, such as: how to keep my schedule organized? What types of useful tips for the commute? Where do I find loupes, or do I really need them?

Anything else would be really helpful. I work hard and want to do a good job.
