Need a Supervising Physician?

Recommended Posts

Hi -

I'm looking to work with a PA who is starting their own clinic in California

or needs a supervisory physician.

I'm a primary care physician with an active CA license (no restrictions)

who has had the privilege of working with PAs and NPs since 1999.

Recently, a clinic here in So Cal where I was planning to supervise 2 PAs

closed unexpectedly, leaving me with an opening.  I have enjoyed this work,

and also enjoy working with fellow entrepreneurial souls, currently helping

another PA in a similar capacity.  I do my best,

to always make myself available via text or phone, and understand the medicolegal issues

that go along with this set up.

Please contact me if interested.

Best,

CaliDoc

It usually involves hiring an attorney with experience in these matters.  The laws are strict in California in terms of practice ownership, as a doctor has to own 51% of the practice.  Obviously trust with one another is paramount.

is this still true? I thought the rule was "No individual PA could own more than 33%" , but 2 PAs could each own 33%, one of their wives ( a non-pa) could own 33% and the doc could be a 1% minority owner required to sell out to the principle partners at their discretion. I had 3 friends who had this arrangement (granted this was years ago) with a doc in the past in CA. he was a retired surgeon and never came to the practice. he just carried a pager and did the required chart review and they paid him well for his time and purchased him a malpractice policy.

The CA Physician Assistant's and Supervising Physician's Legal Handbook published by CAPA states A PA can open a CA PA Professional Corporation and own 100% of it. The only problem is that you will not be able to be reimbursed by insurance companies. So it looks like this would be ok in a cash only practice (just doing injectables part time).

My friends took cash/medicaid/medicare only.

Hi Calidoc,

I just came across this post and was searching for info on this very subject, I have been a PA for 13 years and I am finishing my business plan for opening an Anti Aging clinic in SoCal very soon.

I would love to chat with you if there still might be an opportunity for you to work with a PA, thank you.
