Critical care bedside ultrasound

Recommended Posts

What resources (books, apps, lectures, seminars, podcasts, etc.) have you used to learn and have as a reference for bedside ultrasound? Primarily looking for echo and check intravascular volume status.

Thanks.

You can sign up for ultrasound leadership academy if you have the money, got accepted but too much money for me and no work support.

These are the good ones I've used, U will send me if I think of them.

Do either the SCCM or ACCP ultrasound course. You will learn everything you need to know there. The SCCM is two days with a third day devoted to advanced ultrasonography. It is held a couple of time per year (usually in Chicago and at the national convention). The ACCP course is three two day courses. It goes a little more in depth.

Does anyway any ballpark idea on how much tuition is to the ultrasound leadership academy?  I am assuming it is quite expensive and time consuming but I imaginge content is great.

On a similar note has anyone heard anything about the resssusitation leadership academy.  From their website it looks like it is still in early pphases of production.  I'm not sure if that is something open to PA's at this point.  I imagine anything put out by Dr Weingart, will be super high qulity high yeild stuff.

I went to this course:

http://www.yale-eus.com/Yale_Emergency_Ultrasound/Newport_Course.html

They were very accommodating, not just an ED focused course, plenty of critical care people there along with hospitalists.

I also take advantage of any conferences I go to if they have a half day or one hour ultrasound thing.

See if you can spend some time with the echo techs at your place of business.

Good luck.

I did the sempa fast course a few years ago. it was very basic, but enough to cover what you need to know. I don't do it as often as I should as generally it's just easier to have the u/s tech do it so I can see one of the other 18 pts in the waiting room for over 4 hrs....sorry, miserable shift last night. 36 in 12 hrs. nonstop suckage.

FYI, the Yale course is offered in March each year in Puerto Rico; nice excuse for a Caribbean trip :)

I was accepted to the ultrasound leadership academy and the tuition is from 2250 to 2667/month for 12 months. I work at the VA and they will not pay for CME. I had to decline due to the high cost.
