elainelise
Hey guys, I am in the process of applying to do an international rotation (Guatemala specifically) but while my program is willing to let me go they are encouraging me to stay in the states and do a rotation with someone I might get a job from instead. I'm wondering if anyone has done an international rotation while in PA school and a little bit about your experience. Would you do it again or do you wish you had stayed in the US? Any thoughts would be appreciated!
Just Steve
Interesting situation...I was discussing this with my wife just last night. I am really hoping to do an international rotation when I go into clinicals. I have a working hypothesis that the exposure to working in an environment with limited supplies, relying on true "hands on" medicine (as opposed to having a wide variety of diagnostic machines to help me), and speaking medical/conversational spanish with native speakers will make me more marketable when I graduate. I am interested to see if others have better insight for you (and me by default)
tfeverts
Hi, I would be very interested in any info on the program you are applying for in Guatemala. I am dying to do an international rotation when I get the chance, I just started the program so I still have a year until my clinicals, but I want to get a head start because no one has done it before. Thanks so much, TOM

Any thoughts would be appreciated! This was a long time ago, but I took my last three months of PA school in Oman and UAE. I was strongly discouraged from doing so by my PA program, even forbidden to do so, but I did it anyway and am glad I did.
