Updated: New U.S. case (Ebola) - Mandatory Quarantines in NY,NJ & IL

Boy with fever after travel to W. Africa now in NYC neg for Ebola. Keep in mind there are lots of other things in Africa like malaria, dengue, typhoid, etc that can cause fevers. Without a clear cut exposure to an Ebola pt. all of these(especially malaria) are more likely than Ebola. That being said, I understand the decision to rule that out first.

I am disturbed by the treatment of healthcare workers and their families. Was this how it was when HIV came on scene?

 

So, on top of three weeks extra after volunteering, one can expect their community and potentially their workplace to make them feel unwelcome?

Yes, This is how it was in the 80s when HIV hit the scene. I was an ER tech in my 20s then.
