LiveLaughLove
Math- 147 (yikes- I know, but haven't taken a math class in 12+ years aside from statistics) Verbal - 158 Havent gotten my written scores back yet. Im thinking of taking it over just because the math score is so awful but I am wondering if it is worth it. Otherwise, my GPA is solid and I have 4000+ hrs HCE. Thoughts? UGoLong
You could download the 60 page math text from the GRE site, go through all its exercises, and try again. That's what I did after a 35 year break in my math education. Good luck!
fakingpatience
When are you applying? I took the test without studying in Feb for this application cycle, and afterwards regretted not studying for the math. I feel that the math can definitely be studied for to easily improve the scores. I got nearly the same marks as you (158V, 149Q and 4.0W), and felt the same, not having taken a math class in years definitely showed. Seeing the percentile of the quantitate score is demoralizing. That said I have not retaken the GRE. If you have the time and motivation to study and retake the test go for it, but otherwise I don't think it's going to kill all your chances. Thus far I've received 7 interview invites, so I don't believe that the GRE affects it much. Most schools say they just want a combined over 300, which you've met. (Though I'm in the application cycle now, and haven't heard back about any acceptances, so take my opinion with a grain of salt)
balsam88
My scores were much worse than yours and I still got in. If you have a good GPA and good Letters of recommendation and good HCE's then the GRE is the last thing I'd worry about....
